Seek God’s strength, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…and have found them false.”
(Revelation 2:2)

That’s a game-changer, Jesus.

It’s one thing to suspect someone is fake
to be told they’re a liar, a charlatan, a fraud.

It’s another thing entirely to have it shoved in my face
so there’s no denying it.

One is intellectual – easier to ignore, explain away, overlook.
The other is personal – impossible to ignore, explain away, overlook

without Your help, impossible to forgive.
Almost impossible, even with Your help.

With You, all things are possible.

I need a miracle.

Pray this Lazaroo in desperate praise:

“Praise be to the name of God for ever and ever; wisdom and power are his.”
(Daniel 2:20)

Wow.

Wisdom and power are Yours, Jesus!

Wisdom is knowing what to do.
Power is the ability to do it.

You have both.
I have neither.

Well…I have a little bit of both, since I’m created in Your image.

But life keeps reminding me over and over again:
I don’t have enough.

I need You, Father!

Oh, how I need You.
Every hour I need You.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“…eating with you without the slightest qualm…”
(Jude 1:12)

It’s hard to imagine there are people like this, Jesus

able to enjoy a dinner with me
laugh, slap me on the back, tell stories

while plotting my ruin.

Like a man who can spend an hour in prayer with a group of Your people

knowing he intends to kill them.

O God!

How does someone get to the point where they have no conscience?

It’s by committing sin after sin after sin
without repentance, isn’t it?

Pray this Lazaroo in obedient trust:

“‘Son of man, eat this scroll I am giving you and fill your stomach with it.’ So I ate it, and it tasted as sweet as honey in my mouth.”
(Ezekiel 3:3)

You’d think I’d learn by now, Jesus:

Satan’s way looks easier

is more popular
starts sweet
ends up bitter.

Your way looks harder

has fewer takers
starts bitter
ends up sweet.

I get to choose:

Pay now
or pay a big price later

Y’know…

I think I’ll go with the happy ending.

Pray this Lazaroo in deep humility:

“To the chosen lady…”
(3 John 1:1)

John knew she was chosen, Jesus.

How can I recognize the chosen around me?

Is it those who claim to be chosen by You?

Not necessarily.
Sometimes it’s just talk.

Is it those who behave better than others?

Not always.
Your people have been known to behave worse than heathen.

Is it by their fruit?

Perhaps…
but good works save no one.

I’m avoiding the real question, aren’t I?

Am I Your chosen?

Yes.

With all my heart

I choose You.

Pray this Lazaroo in desperate trust:

“Zion stretches out her hands, but there is no one to comfort her.”
(Lamentations 1:17)

What a terrible moment, Jesus…

to beg for someone to help me, be there for me

but be ignored
or even worse, to have them all turn their backs.

First question:

If that is happening to me
am I experiencing the way I’ve treated others?

Is this payback?

Second question:

If no one is comforting me
might it be because only One can?

You.

Pray this Lazaroo in humbled awareness:

“…and not I only…”
(2 John 1:1)

That’s the challenge, isn’t it, Jesus?

To remember that’s it’s not just about me.

Mostly, it’s about everybody else.

Hard for me to grasp
since it’s through my eyes that I see the world.

Show me how to get outside myself!

to care about more than what works for me.

You love me.
You care for me.
You guide my every step.
You never stop thinking about me

which frees me
to focus on others.

Pray this Lazaroo in bottomless trust:

“Cross over to the coasts of Kittim and look, send to Kedar and observe closely…”
(Jeremiah 2:10)

Help me see, Jesus.

Too often I look without seeing.

There’s so much I could learn

if only You’d cure me of this myopia.

They say the great artists don’t have better hands

but more accurate sight.

All they do is reproduce what they see.

I glance too often

and miss so much.

Open my blind eyes, LORD!

It’s Your specialty.

Show me what I’m overlooking.

Help me see.
