That’s a tall order, Jesus!

It’s one thing to teach with integrity, seriousness and soundness of speech

but quite another thing to do all that in a way
that’s impossible to condemn.

There’s always someone out there eager to condemn.

but with Your help and protection

That’s extremely good to know, Jesus…

because the first death scares the livin’ tar out of most of us.

Consequently, hearing there’s a second death out there, just waiting…

doesn’t do just a whole lot for our emotional health.

But as much as I dread the painful dying experience of the first death

I love knowing I don’t have to fear what comes after.

Some of the worst people out there, Jesus

still have a heart.

There are things they still care about, people they love.

As hardhearted as they are about most things
a little tenderness still comes through.

But those who are absolutely, totally heartless?

These people are terrifying.
Their lips sometimes curl into a smile

but their eyes are ice cold.

I beg You to protect me from them, Father!

and never allow me to become one of them.

Kinda makes it sound like there are false faiths out there, Jesus…

…which there are.

When You said no one comes to the Father except through You

You weren’t kidding.

Of course, that’s not politically correct.

It wasn’t then.
It’s certainly not now.

Hell isn’t politically correct either.

But that doesn’t change the hard fact:

that You’re the only way to heaven
and every contrary teaching
