Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, ‘Brothers, what shall we do?’ Peter replied, ‘Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.’”
(Acts 2:37-38)

Straightforward question…

straightforward answer, Jesus:

the gospel in a nutshell.

When people ask me what to do

may I be just that straightforward.

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful affirmation:

“…through our gospel…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:14)

It was Your gospel, Jesus – Your good news –

that You left heaven
were born of a virgin
lived a sinless life
worked countless miracles
taught truth as no one else could
died on the cross for our sins
rose triumphant, from the dead
returned to heaven
are preparing a home in heaven for all who believe
will return one day
to establish Your kingdom forever.

Yes, that’s also Paul’s gospel…

and mine.

Pray this Lazaroo in utter amazement:

“He called you to this…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:14)

When some people hear the gospel, Jesus –

that You were born to a virgin
lived a sinless life, teaching and performing miracles
were crucified and rose from the dead
to save from their sins all who believe
so they can live forever with You in heaven –

they reject it.

But I didn’t!

When I heard that amazing good news

I knew it was true
and I believed!

because You called me.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“When I saw that they were not acting in line with the truth of the gospel…”
(Galatians 2:14)

That’s when I’m forced to speak up, isn’t it, Jesus?

In a company, nation, church, community, project, group of friends

the first steps may seem right

but if over time there’s a blatant departure –

or a subtle one –

I can’t remain mute.

I have to speak up:

wisely, humbly, respectfully…
but firmly.

If I’m ignored, I have to keep trying

or get out.

Pray this Lazaroo with renewed determination:

“This is the gospel that you heard…”
(Colossians 1:23)

Your gospel, Jesus!

The good news that You Are God
that You came to this earth as a baby
grew to be a man who taught truth, worked miracles
who died on the cross for the sins of all who believe
who will return to take Your followers to heaven forever.

Everybody’s got to hear your gospel!

Please use me however You wish, Father
to bring that miracle to pass.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“…his blood will be on our head if a hand is laid on him.”
(Joshua 2:19)

Joshua’s spies were taking on themselves a huge responsibility, Jesus!

They were willing to be held accountable for the behavior
of Your entire army.

So my guess is, when they got back
they made the terms of their promise crystal clear.

But that raises the question:

Whose blood will be on my head
if I don’t make Your life-changing good news

crystal clear?

Pray this Lazaroo in obedient gratitude:

“I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.”
(1 Corinthians 2:2)

No doubt Paul was weary of the controversies religious people are able to go on and on and on about, Jesus!

Only one thing matters:
You.

Because of who You are –

though we don’t deserve it –

we get to live forever in heaven

if we place our faith in You alone

in what You did for us on the cross
and in Your resurrection.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“I proclaimed to you the testimony about God.”
(1 Corinthians 2:1)

Is there any better proclamation, Jesus?
Might there be somewhere on earth a greater story to tell?
Is there anywhere in all creation a higher message to share?

No.
There is none.

Those who carry this testimony have embarked on the most important mission of all time

with heaven and hell in the balance

while those heed and act on its truth

are immediately deputized to spread it.

Pray this Lazaroo with bulldog faith:

“…and they will say, ‘You are my God.’”
(Hosea 2:23)

Is there any greater joy, Jesus?

than to share You with a friend, neighbor,
family member, coworker, stranger

and discover You’ve used me to draw them to Yourself?

to have them unashamedly declare in grateful worship:

“You are my God!”?

No matter how pleasurable, meaningful or important

nothing holds greater weight
none has deeper significance

because eternal life in heaven
eternal suffering in hell

were hanging in the balance.
