Pray this Lazaroo in humble, grateful trust:

“I am not writing you a new command…”
(2 John 1:5)

That’s a good thing, Jesus –

because I’m not yet following the old ones.

Well…

I am most of them
but not all.

Sometimes that depresses me.

I know that by now, I should be farther along.

After all, the standard isn’t anything less than full and complete obedience.

But to know beyond the shadow of a doubt that you love me anyway
means more than words can say.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy fear:

“…that we may live…in all godliness…”
(1 Timothy 2:2)

I would love to like that, Jesus!

In fact, I try.
And fail.

I’m not even sure what living in all godliness looks like.

But what I do know of it
I’m not doing.

Not completely.
Not consistently.

I want to. I mean to.

And still fall short.

I’ll never quit trying! You deserve my best.

But unless You show up in love, mercy and forgiveness
it won’t get done.
