Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“And the teachers of the law who came down from Jerusalem said, ‘He is possessed by Beelzebul! By the prince of demons he is driving out demons.’ So Jesus called them over to him and began to speak to them in parables: ‘How can Satan drive out Satan? If a kingdom is divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.’”
(Mark 3:22-24)

No one can make that charge against You, Jesus

nor any other.

Not only did you put them in their place

You taught us an invaluable truth for all time.

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful obedience:

They say that the resurrection has already taken place, and they destroy the faith of some. Nevertheless, God’s solid foundation stands firm…”
(2 Timothy 2:18-19)

False teachers can do a lot of harm, Jesus.

But may their misunderstanding, lies and deception
never budge me one inch

from the rock-solid certainty of Your Word!

Show me which of those led astray You’re calling me to help!

I know I can’t fix every wrong
but with Your guidance, Holy Spirit

I long to make a difference.

Pray this Lazaroo in sober reflection:

“Not many of you should become teachers, my fellow believers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly.”
(James 3:1)

There’s a simple reason for this, isn’t there, Jesus?

Those to whom You give the holy honor of teaching Your Word

owe You and those they teach

the privilege of seeing someone
who practices what they teach.

True, no teacher will ever do everything perfectly

but that had blessed well be their daily goal.

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: ‘Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?’ On hearing this, Jesus said to them, ‘It is not the healthy who need a doctor, but the sick. I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners.’”
(Mark 2:16-17)

So if I don’t recognize that I’m a sick sinner, Jesus…

You didn’t come for me.

Oh, but I am!

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“What, after all, is Apollos? And what is Paul? Only servants, through whom you came to believe—as the Lord has assigned to each his task. I planted the seed, Apollos watered it, but God has been making it grow. So neither the one who plants nor the one who waters is anything, but only God, who makes things grow.”
(1 Corinthians 3:5-7)

Oh, Jesus.

Thank You for the teachers You’ve given me.

But I’m relying on You alone

to make me grow!

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“While Jesus was having dinner at Levi’s house, many tax collectors and sinners were eating with him and his disciples, for there were many who followed him. When the teachers of the law who were Pharisees saw him eating with the sinners and tax collectors, they asked his disciples: ‘Why does he eat with tax collectors and sinners?’”
(Mark 2:15-16)

These Pharisees didn’t get it, did they, Jesus?

They were sinners, too.

Please, please, please:

Never let me become that blind.

Pray this Lazaroo with a responsive, willing heart:

“Next to him, the repairs were made by the Levites…”
(Nehemiah 3:17)

The Levites were incredibly busy, Jesus.

Their hands were already full!

They had to prepare to sing Psalms during Temple services

they performed construction and maintenance for the Temple
they served as guards, teachers and judges
and it was their responsibility to maintain the cities of refuge.

But they were needed, so they helped!

May that be my spirit

no matter how busy I think I am.

Pray this Lazaroo with spiritual eyes wide open:

“This is what we speak, not in words taught us by human wisdom but in words taught by the Spirit, explaining spiritual realities with Spirit-taught words.”
(1 Corinthians 2:13)

There’s a constant battle, isn’t there, Jesus? –

between human wisdom
and the wisdom that comes only from You.

Human wisdom – along with its deceptions and limitations –

is all around me.

But Your wisdom is in Your Word…

through Your Scripturally faithful teachers…

and in me!

HALLELUJAH!

God grant me supernatural discernment!

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful awareness:

“Now some teachers of the law were sitting there, thinking to themselves, ‘Why does this fellow talk like that? He’s blaspheming! Who can forgive sins but God alone?’”
(Mark 2:6-7)

When you forgave this man’s sins, Jesus

these religious experts made an astute observation:

“Who can forgive sins but God alone?”

But they were blind to the reality

that they were hearing those words of forgiveness

from God Himself.

Who can forgive my countless sins?

Oh, Jesus!
Only You.

Be forewarned, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…these teachers will exploit you with stories they have made up.”
(2 Peter 2:3)

A made-up story can be enjoyable, Jesus –

as a fairy tale told to children
when a gifted novelist spins an intriguing adventure.

But when made-up stories are used to manipulate Your people and lead them astray

they’re not entertainment.
They’re a lie.

Satan is the father of lies.

His every intent is to steer people away from the truth

that always points to You.
