Bildad’s prediction in Job’s behalf came true, Jesus.

I don’t know what my future holds.

But this I believe:

If I seek You earnestly
if with Your help I remain pure and upright

“The law is not based on faith; on the contrary, it says, ‘The person who does these things will live by them.’”
(Galatians 3:12)

If I was counting on my obedience to Your law to save me, Jesus

I’d be doomed to hell.

To say I fall short is not only to state the obvious.
It’s the understatement of the century.

It’s not because I don’t care.

I try with all my might to please You…

and then I don’t.

If this is how You punish a people’s sinful behavior, Jesus

I would say my city, state, nation –

and this entire world –

are being punished.

LORD, send revival! Fall on this land!

You’ve done it before.

It’s not about me alone, is it, Jesus?

It’s about those who live with me
those who grew up with me
those I count as friends
those where I work
those in my city, state, country
those in my church.

When I mess up, I shame them.

But the good news is this:

When I please You, I honor them!

And even when I’ve strayed

by returning to You
I give them hope.

What’s my clan, Jesus?

My family of origin?
My circle of friends?
The people at work?
My neighbors?
My state?
My country?
My church?

Could I possibly have more than one clan?

Maybe…but why does any of that matter?

Well…because the people I’m with influence me, don’t they?

…and I them.

Show me who You want to make up my clan, Father!

…and help me leave every clan
injurious to my spiritual health.
