Sometimes that’s all I have strength to do, Jesus

walk.

There are days when I don’t make it far

when I struggle to put one foot in front of the other
when I don’t feel like taking another step.

But I do.

I don’t always know why or how, but I do.

I know Who, though.

You.

You’re my LORD, my God, my Hope, my Strength

Many people start, Jesus.

Few continue.

Continuing requires character.

It means I keep going no matter what.
It means I stay the course in spite of how I feel.

It means I set my jaw and refuse to be pushed off track

even when it appears what I’m doing
isn’t going to pay off.

To continue requires not only everything I’ve got

but forces me to lean on You
every moment of the day.

“May its morning stars become dark…”
(Job 3:9)

Because of his suffering, Jesus

Job curses the day of his birth.

Normally, birthdays are joyous occasions.

No more.
Not for Job.

His life has become too bitter.

Now he wants the day of his birth to become a bleak, dark day

a cause for mourning
the brightest stars extinguished.

But little does he know the happiness You have planned for him

if he will only hold on
a little longer.
