Pray this Lazaroo with unquestioning obedience:

“See that you don’t tell this to anyone.”
(Mark 1:44)

I love to share Your good news, Jesus!

So it seems a little strange to learn
there are some things You don’t want me to tell.

But in this case, You told the man You’d been healed to keep it to himself

because the religious leaders would use it against You.

Please help me speak up when I should

and keep my mouth shut when You say so.

Pray this Lazaroo with a listening ear:

“…what shall I tell them?”
(Exodus 3:13)

What a great question, Jesus!

Just because I told them something last time that seemed to work

doesn’t mean I should tell them the same thing this time
even if the situation appears to be identical.

You don’t want me to disconnect from You, thinking:

“I’ve got this.”

You want me to stay in Deep, Daily, Moment-by-Moment
1on1 relationship with You.

Because just when I’m certain I know what to say
I don’t.

Pray this Lazaroo with a broken heart:

“…Rachel weeping for her children…”
(Matthew 2:18)

A lot of us are following Rachel’s lead, Jesus

weeping for our children

some of us because our children have died, like Rachel’s

but far more because they’ve gone astray

rejected their upbringing
turned their backs on You

been sucked in by addictions
deceived by the fleeting pleasures of sin.

May my grief not be limited to biological children and grandchildren

but extend to the children of this generation.

Help me
help them!

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“…she took some and ate it.”
(Genesis 3:6)

No!

No! No! No!

Is that what You said when Eve bit the forbidden fruit, Jesus?

Was that the cry of Your holy angels
when she caved in to Satan’s temptation?

Better question:

Is that how You feel when I do the same?

When I read about Adam and Eve’s fall

I shake my head in sorrow.

“Why can’t they see what a foolish thing they’re doing?”

Then the thought:

“Why can’t I?”

Pray this Lazaroo, thirsting for God’s wisdom:

“…from his mouth men should seek instruction…”
(Malachi 2:7)

This Bible passage could be referring to You, Jesus

but it isn’t.

It’s referring to the office of priest.

You’re saying people should be able to go to the priest
and learn something important.

Of course, that important truth originates with You

but You expect the priest to be the one who conveys it.

Now that You’ve come, died and risen

all of Your followers have that responsibility

including me.

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“After he has…sent me against the nations…”
(Zechariah 2:8)

This is one of Your angels talking, Jesus

speaking powerful, eye-opening words.

We humans think we’re fighting our own battles – and why not?

We have the weapons and wounds to prove it.

But in reality, the bigger battle is occurring in places unseen by us

none the less real for their invisibility.

What happens there plays out here through us.

O God!
Send Your mighty angels against all our enemies!

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“…before one stone was laid on another…”
(Haggai 2:15)

It’s hard to go back that far, Jesus.

Not for You!
For me.

So much was already here when I came along.

A lot of stones were already stacked.

It’s a good, humbling reminder that I’m building on the work of others’

and will be followed by those who build on mine

if what I’m building is worth adding to it

because I’m building on You
the Solid Rock.

Pray this Lazaroo with utter abandon:

“Neither their silver nor their gold will be able to save them on the day of the LORD’s wrath.”
(Zephaniah 1:18)

It’s true, Jesus.

No one can buy You off.
All of it’s Yours to begin with!

That would be like offering to loan a bank the money I had just borrowed from them.

I own nothing.
Not here.

The only thing that’s mine is the treasure I store up in heaven

by obeying You here on earth.
