Pray this Lazaroo in sobered reflection:

“…the God of Israel, declares: ‘I promised that members of your family would minister before me forever.’ But now the Lord declares: ‘Far be it from me! Those who honor me I will honor, but those who despise me will be disdained.’”
(1 Samuel 2:30)

So much for the name-it-and-claim-it crowd, Jesus.

I can’t stand on every promise You’ve ever made
if I’m not standing faithfully with You.

May I honor you, my Savior

with everything I think, say and do!

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“The Lord said to Moses, ‘Take a census also of the Gershonites by their families and clans. Count all the men from thirty to fifty years of age who come to serve in the work at the tent of meeting.”
(Numbers 4:21-23)

Why would You command Moses to count these people, Jesus?

You already knew how many there were.

In fact, as we humans almost always do
they probably made a few mistakes while they were counting.

But You have us count people because people count!

especially those who faithfully serve You.

Take a little comfort, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“One Sabbath Jesus was going through the grainfields, and as his disciples walked along, they began to pick some heads of grain. The Pharisees said to him, ‘Look, why are they doing what is unlawful on the Sabbath?’”
(Mark 2:23-24)

If they criticized Your followers then, Jesus…

why am I surprised –

while I’m faithfully walking with You –

when they criticize me?

Please don’t let their harsh words upset me.

After all, taking heat for You
is a badge of honor!

Strengthen your resolve, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“’They do not know how to do right,’ declares the LORD…”
(Amos 3:10)

Whose fault is that, Jesus?

Is it because their leaders haven’t taught them Your ways?

O God!

Give us pastors, deacons, Sunday School teachers
small group leaders, writers, government and business leaders

who diligently teach and apply Your Word
as they faithfully discharge their duties!

But even if they do not

may each of us take personal responsibility
to learn and obey Your loving commands.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“…the unfaithful will be torn from it.”
(Proverbs 2:22)

Torn from what, Jesus?

Well, specifically, the land they live on.

But that could have broader meaning, couldn’t it?

Not everyone is a landowner.

But we all have something or someone that represents home to us.

That’s what the unfaithful will be torn from, isn’t it?
the very thing that means the most to them.

I need to stop applying this to other people, don’t I?

Help me be faithful!

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“Abner and the men of Israel were defeated by David’s men.”
(2 Samuel 2:17)

You determine the outcome of every battle, Jesus!

The size of each army doesn’t matter.

The one You declare the victor

is the one who will win.

Not some of the time.
Not most of the time.
Every time.

How many more battles will I face, Father?

It doesn’t matter, does it?

So long as I faithfully, passionately follow You

I’ll prevail in every one.

Pray this Lazaroo in zealous love:

“She went into the field and has worked steadily from morning till now…”
(Ruth 2:7)

That’s the key, isn’t it, Jesus?

steadily.”

Doing a lot of work for a short while…stopping…doing some more later when I feel like it…

doesn’t have nearly the impact
that sticking with it day in/day out creates.

Steady work isn’t always flashy

but it gets the job done.

May I be a steady worker in Your fields

all day
every day
through harvest.

Pray this Lazaroo in renewed dedication:

“…the house of Israel is not willing to listen to you because they are not willing to listen to me…”
(Ezekiel 3:7)

That’s not always the case, is it, Jesus?

Sometimes Your people refuse to listen
because the speaker is teaching error.

But this does explain how a person can sit through a church service and refuse to act on what the pastor faithfully shares from Your Word.

If they won’t listen to You
the pastor has no chance.
