Pray this Lazaroo in humble recognition:

“This is what they will get in return for their pride, for insulting and mocking the people of the LORD Almighty. The LORDwill be awesome to them when he destroys all the gods of the earth. Distant nations will bow down to him, all of them in their own lands.”
(Zephaniah 2:10-11)

May You never be awesome to me for that reason, Jesus!

But I will rejoice with You
when You destroy all the gods of the earth.

including the idols
I battle in my own life.

Pray this Lazaroo in rock-solid faith:

“Og king of Bashan with his whole army marched out to meet us in battle at Edrei. The Lord said to me, ‘Do not be afraid of him, for I have delivered him into your hands, along with his whole army and his land. Do to him what you did to Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon.’”
(Deuteronomy 3:1-2)

When You tell me not to be afraid of someone, Jesus

that settles it.

I don’t have to be afraid.

Pray this Lazaroo in zealous love:

“Barak said to her, ‘If you go with me, I will go; but if you don’t go with me, I won’t go.’ ‘Certainly I will go with you,’ said Deborah. ‘But because of the course you are taking, the honor will not be yours, for the Lord will deliver Sisera into the hands of a woman.’”
(Judges 4:8-9)

Through Your prophet Deborah

You commanded Barak to battle Israel’s enemies.

But he was unwilling to go without Deborah.

May I always obey You LORD
regardless of who tags along.

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“The one who is victorious I will make a pillar in the temple of my God. Never again will they leave it. I will write on them the name of my God and the name of the city of my God, the new Jerusalem, which is coming down out of heaven from my God; and I will also write on them my new name.”
(Revelation 3:12)

I thought I already had all the incentive I need, Jesus.

But this makes me want to strive like never before

to win each spiritual battle in my life!

Pray this Lazaroo in totally trusting love:

“When Sihon and all his army came out to meet us in battle at Jahaz, the LORD our God delivered him over to us and we struck him down, together with his sons and his whole army. We completely destroyed them – men, women and children. We left no survivors.”
(Deuteronomy 2:32-34)

Our modern sensibilities can’t fathom this, Jesus –

the ruthless extermination of a whole nation of people.

But You – the God of love, forgiveness and mercy – ordered it!

So like it or not
that means it had to be done.

Take notes, as you pray this Lazaroo::

“Jesus said to him, ‘Away from me, Satan! For it is written: “Worship the Lord your God, and serve him only.”’ Then the devil left him, and angels came and attended him.”
(Matthew 4:10-11)

You’re teaching me how to successfully battle the devil, Jesus:

1. Tell him to get away.
2. Quote the Word to him.
3. Make it clear that I will serve no one but You.

That kind of encounter with the enemy of my soul can be exhausting.

But when needed

You’ll send Your angels to attend me!

Pray this Lazaroo with fiery determination:

“Instead of fragrance there will be a stench; instead of a sash, a rope; instead of well-dressed hair, baldness; instead of fine clothing, sackcloth; instead of beauty, branding. Your men will fall by the sword, your warriors in battle. The gates of Zion will lament and mourn; destitute, she will sit on the ground.”
(Isaiah 3:24-26)

So this is what a curse looks like, Jesus

Your punishment –

doled out not upon the heathen
but upon Your people, who’ve forsaken You.

Keep me true, Jesus!

May Your curse never fall on me.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“See, I have given into your hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his country. Begin to take possession of it and engage him in battle. This very day I will begin to put the terror and fear of you on all the nations under heaven. They will hear reports of you and will tremble and be in anguish because of you.”
(Deuteronomy 2:24-25)

Nothing happens, Jesus

unless You make it happen
or let it happen

which means my total focus
needs to be on You.

Pray this Lazaroo in devoted passion:

“We have heard a message from the Lord: An envoy was sent to the nations to say, ‘Rise, let us go against her for battle…’”
(Obadiah 1:1)

You’re stirring up the nations against us, Jesus?

No. Not us.
Against our pride-filled, sinning brothers.

I’m sorry for them…

but thankful that we’re not the ones under Your wrath.

Except…this is a warning, isn’t it?

If you’re taking our brothers to the woodshed
we’ll be next –

if we follow their example of disobedience.

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“When the king of Moab saw that the battle had gone against him, he took with him seven hundred swordsmen to break through to the king of Edom, but they failed. Then he took his firstborn son, who was to succeed him as king, and offered him as a sacrifice on the city wall.”
(2 Kings 3:26-27)

Desperate people who don’t worship You

end up doing terrible, unthinkable things, Jesus!

May my faith be in You alone

causing me to do only what is good!
