Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“He used to pour water on the hands of Elijah.”
(2 Kings 3:11)

Humble beginnings, Jesus.

Elisha started out as a servant to the great prophet Elijah
a step-and-fetch-it, a do-whatever-I’m-told.

He remained in that role until You called his master home.

And then he demonstrated that he had been paying attention:
He asked for a double portion of Elijah’s spirit.

Wow. Where did that come from?

And You granted his request!

You really love to reward the humble.

Enlarge your perspective, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“King Solomon answered his mother, ‘Why do you request Abishag the Shunammite for Adonijah?’”
(1 Kings 2:22)

Solomon was appalled at his mother’s request, Jesus.

Had he granted it, it would have cost them their lives.

So why did she make such a foolish request?

One possibility: She wasn’t thinking.

But of course, that can’t be true.

She was thinking about one very small part
of a much larger picture

which, embarrassingly,

is what I do all day long.
