Pray this Lazaroo with excuseless repentance:

“This is what the Lord Almighty says: ‘These people say, “The time has not yet come to rebuild the Lord’s house.”’ Then the word of the Lord came through the prophet Haggai: ‘Is it a time for you yourselves to be living in your paneled houses, while this house remains a ruin?’”
(Haggai 1:2-4)

There’s a time for everything, Jesus.

But when I claim it’s not the time to serve You
because I’m too busy serving myself?

You see through me –
straight to my selfish, me-centered heart.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy fear:

“…the women are to be worthy of respect, not malicious talkers…”
(1 Timothy 3:11)

Amen, Jesus.

If there’s one thing that can ruin the harmony in Your Church
it’s a group of women who are malicious talkers.

Of course, there’s a second thing that can ruin the harmony in Your Church:

a group of men who are malicious talkers.

Even one man.
Even one woman.

That’s all it takes to create incalculable harm.

May I never be guilty of this disruptive sin!

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“’Their throats are open graves; their tongues practice deceit.’ ‘The poison of vipers is on their lips.’ ‘Their mouths are full of cursing and bitterness.’ ‘Their feet are swift to shed blood; ruin and misery mark their ways, and the way of peace they do not know.’ ‘There is no fear of God before their eyes.’”
(Romans 3:13-18)

That’s what You see when You look at this world, Jesus.

It has to break Your heart!

May that never be what You see

when You look at me.

Pray this Lazaroo with rock-solid confidence:

“With a blinding flash he destroys the stronghold and brings the fortified city to ruin. There are those who hate the one who upholds justice in court and detest the one who tells the truth.”
(Amos 5:9-10)

You see what’s going on, Jesus!

To us, it feels like You refuse to do anything about it.

It does, that is…

until in one moment
You utterly ruin the wicked!

Help me to trust Your perfect way and time.

You alone know

When
How
Why!

Pray this Lazaroo with wiser eyes:

“…all toil and all achievement spring from one person’s envy of another. This too is meaningless, a chasing after the wind. Fools fold their hands and ruin themselves. Better one handful with tranquillity than two handfuls with toil and chasing after the wind.”
(Ecclesiastes 4:4-6)

So there’s a balance, isn’t there, Jesus?

Work to accomplish what You’ve called me to do
not to keep up with someone else.

But even so, You want me to work –
and not make others do my job.

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.”
(Proverbs 3:24-26)

Such is your promise to those who drink deeply of Your wisdom, Jesus

who seek to know and understand You and Your Word

with the full passion of their inmost being.

Qualify for these promises, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet. Have no fear of sudden disaster or of the ruin that overtakes the wicked, for the Lord will be at your side and will keep your foot from being snared.”
(Proverbs 3:24-26)

You’re not making this promise to everyone, are You, Jesus?

This happy state of affairs is for those

who do not let wisdom and understanding out of their sight
and preserve sound judgment and discretion!

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your being:

“…to escape the clutches of ruin!”
(Habakkuk 2:9)

That’s certainly what I desire, Jesus!

Disappointments, losses, hard times and setbacks are one thing.
Ruin…hangs around a little longer.

However: Anyone who foolishly attempts to escape the clutches of ruin in their own strength

is cursed, marked, doomed to failure –

not only on this earth
but eternally.

There is only one way to escape the clutches of utter, total, permanent ruin:

Trust in You.
Trust in You.
Trust in You.

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“I struck all the work of your hands…”
(Haggai 2:17)

How could You, Jesus?

All that work done by Your people
ruined not by their enemies

but by their God.

Why?

Out of love.

You’ll do whatever’s necessary to get my attention and turn me around

before it’s too late.

The destruction of all my work is a small price to pay

for the salvation of my life.

It’s tough love, LORD!

But sometimes…
it’s the love I need.
