Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“Gehazi said, ‘She has no son, and her husband is old.’ Then Elisha said, ‘Call her.’ So he called her, and she stood in the doorway. ‘About this time next year,’ Elisha said, ‘you will hold a son in your arms.’ ‘No, my lord!’ she objected. ‘Please, man of God, don’t mislead your servant!’”
(2 Kings 4:14-16)

Some of us can’t believe how good You’re willing to be to us, Jesus!

But You’ve already given Your life for me.

Why wouldn’t You do amazing things for me…

and through me!

Pray this Lazaroo with a fervent heart:

“Be glad, people of Zion, rejoice in the Lord your God, for he has given you the autumn rains because he is faithful.”
(Joel 2:23)

Yes, You Are, Jesus!

You always keep Your promises.
You gave Your life for me on the cross

I, on the other hand, haven’t always been faithful to You.

It hurts me to admit that.
I know it hurts You even more.

Well, that’s got to change.

Not sometime in the future.

Starting now.

Pray this Lazaroo in devoted passion:

“‘I am against you,’ declares the Lord Almighty.”
(Nahum 2:13)

Could there be any more chilling words, Jesus?

In this or any language.

First of all, I can’t make it without You.

Try though I might, I’m not enough.

But if You would also be against me?

Then I’d be doomed.
No one can successfully stand against You.

However…

You’re not against me!

I’ve completely, wholeheartedly, irrevocably
given myself to You.

I’m Yours.
Your mine.

HALLELUJAH!

You’re for me!

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“Has not the LORD Almighty determined…”
(Habakkuk 2:13)

I can stop the sentence right there, Jesus.

You’ve determined it all.

Everything that has happened, is happening, will happen –

has been decided by You.

Obviously, I don’t know most of what You’ve got cooking

except for those things You’ve spelled out in Your Word.

So for me

following You every step of the way

is the adventure of my lifetime!

Show me what You want me know!

No more…
and no less.

Let the goose bumps multiply, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…the mystery that has been kept hidden for ages and generations…”
(Colossians 1:26)

You revealed so much to Your kings and prophets, Jesus –

to Noah, Abraham, Moses, David, Elijah, Isaiah –

but You saved some of Your best stuff for Your Church.

For me.

Everything You did in the past was pointing to this!

May I never be jealous of what they had back then, Father.
Because today – with You in me and I in You –

I’m livin’ the dream.

Pray this Lazaroo in vivid recall:

“Then the priest is to take some of the blood with his finger and put it on the horns of the altar of burnt offering and pour out the rest of the blood at the base of the altar.”
(Leviticus 4:30)

You made him use his finger to touch the blood of this goat, Jesus!

He probably didn’t want to
but that made it personal.

May this remind me of how achingly personal it got for You

for me

on the cross.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“…the exiles…”
(Obadiah 1:20)

It’s no fun to be an exile, Jesus!

to be kicked out of my home, my homeland
the place I thought would be mine my whole life

…until I discover the better place
You’ve held in store for me.

Maybe the mistakes I’ve made put me here.
Maybe the sins I committed got me booted out.

Or maybe I was obedient to You
and this is my reward.

No matter!

Because of You

this is better.

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“…we are…created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which God prepared in advance for us to do.”
(Ephesians 2:10)

When I really begin to get hold of this truth, Jesus

it’s an amazing feeling.

You could have set me on planet earth 5,000 years ago.
You could have waited to bring me here 1,000 years from now.

But You didn’t

because You’ve got a whole list of things to accomplish through me

and my time to do them is now.

Pray this Lazaroo with outrageous adoration:

“Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom for all people. “
(1 Timothy 2:5-6)

Those last two words, Jesus:

all people.”

Not merely the rich, famous or powerful.

all people.”

Not just deacons, elders and pastors.

all people.”

Not only the beautiful, talented and likable.

all people.”

You gave Yourself as a ransom

for poor people, nobodies and powerless
waiters, stockbrokers and nurses
ugly people, clumsy and obnoxious

and for me! – the least deserving of

all people.”

Stay on the edge of your seat as you pray this Lazaroo:

“‘We have found the Messiah’ (that is, the Christ).”
(John 1:41)

Did they find You, Jesus…

…or did you find them?

Maybe You helped them find You

because they were looking for You.

That’s who I want to be!

Constantly watching for You, listening for You
eyes wide open, antennae all the way up
hanging on Your every Word.

I don’t want to miss a thing You’re doing

in this world
for those I love
in, through and for me.
