Accept the honor, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…encourage the young men to be self-controlled. In everything set them an example by doing what is good…”
(Titus 2:6-7)

I can’t just tell them how to behave, can I, Jesus?

I’ve got to show them what it looks like.

Of course, it’s a whole lot easier to point the way
than to lead the way.

But that’s only fair.

Because it’s a lot harder for them to follow my advice
than to nod with an indulgent smile
pretending to agree.

Pray this Lazaroo in dawning awareness:

“…the house of Esau will be stubble…”
(Obadiah 1:18)

Hard words, Jesus

though no less true.

I prefer soft words, myself

saying them and hearing them.

Sadly, soft words are often ignored.

I use them with others
others use them with me

to which we nod, smile, wave an acknowledgment…

and keep right on doing what we’re doing.

Hard words pack a punch because they carry a threat.

Y’know…I think I’d rather learn how to respond
to soft words.
