Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intent:

“My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble.”
(Proverbs 3:21-23)

Those are amazing promises, Jesus!

But it’s not generic wisdom You’re talking about, is it?

Your understanding

“Here is a trustworthy saying…”
(2 Timothy 2:11)

Of course, everything in Your Word is trustworthy, Jesus

so when You set up what You’re about to say like this

You’re telling me it’s huge.

Not only that…

but it’s a “saying” –

something You want frequently repeated
so Your people get it deeply embedded in their DNA –

something You probably want me to memorize.

Okay. Got it. Ready:

Pray this Lazaroo in Holy Spirit-led caution:

“…with their tongue they speak deceit.”
(Psalms 5:9)

I don’t want to believe there are people like this, Jesus.

I’d rather think they accidentally misspoke.
I prefer to believe they didn’t mean what they said.

Perhaps that’s why You mention the terrible practice of deceit

more than 100 times in Your Word.

I have to remove my rose-colored glasses, don’t I?

The evidence all around me is too great to ignore.

Open my eyes to those whose tongues speak deceit!
