Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“Warn them before God against quarreling about words; it is of no value, and only ruins those who listen.”
(1 Timothy 2:14)

In the midst of my heated discussions it’s easy to forget, Jesus:

there can be collateral damage.

I may be able to walk away from an argument no worse for the wear.

But what about the other person?
What about those listening in?
What about those who hear about it?

Yup.

Gotta stop quarreling with other Christians about words.

Pray this Lazaroo with sharpened awareness:

“Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right side to accuse him.”
(Zechariah 3:1)

It’s easy to forget that kind of thing happens, Jesus.

I tend to assess the situation
based on what I can see, hear, feel, taste, touch, smell.

But that may be the least of it!

Because I belong to You

I’ve enrolled in a spiritual, life and death battle.

I’d do well to remember that.

When great things happen to me, Jesus

do I realize You’re the one I should thank?

True, You work through events, weather, people – even animals!

So it’s easy to forget that my blessings come through them

not from them.

Certainly, when people deliberately choose to be good to me

You bless them richly.

But with a grateful heart may I never forget:

It’s You.

Pray this Lazaroo with no-holds-barred surrender:

“…give careful thought…”
(Haggai 2:18)

That’s one of those statements that goes without saying Jesus

and still needs to be said.

Of course, I know I should give careful to important issues.

But what I keep forgetting
is that it’s all important.

My challenge is compounded by the troubling reality

that what I sometimes think is important
isn’t nearly as crucial as what I dismiss as unimportant

which means I’d better give everything I say and do

careful thought.
