Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“…I will give you…both wealth and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.”
(1 Kings 3:13-14)

In spite of Your amazing promises to him

Solomon strayed, Jesus.

How is that even possible?

I guess the same way I stray
in spite of all Your amazing promises to me.

Please rise up within me
to break this terrible cycle!

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful wisdom:

“…he withdrew…”
(Matthew 2:22)

There’s a time for that, isn’t there, Jesus?

in spite of the fact that I prefer to go forward.

It makes me feel like I’m accomplishing something
like I’m making progress.

But sometimes I venture into waters too deep

onto land whose “No Trespassing!” signs I’ve overlooked.

It’s not that You can’t enable me to do absolutely anything.

It’s that there’s a right time for everything

including a time – as Joseph discovered –

to withdraw.

In spite of their shortcomings, Jesus

the Church in Ephesus had something in their favor

which makes me wonder:

What do I have in mine?

What am I doing that You like?

What am I refusing to do that makes You proud of me?
Where am I growing, becoming a little more like You?

I’ve got a lot of shortcomings, Father;

I really need You to find something in my favor.
