Pray this Lazaroo…without excuse:

“We are the servants of the God of heaven and earth, and we are rebuilding the temple that was built many years ago…But because our ancestors angered the God of heaven, he gave them into the hands of Nebuchadnezzar the Chaldean, king of Babylon, who destroyed this temple and deported the people to Babylon.”
(Ezra 5:11-12)

They knew, Jesus!

and didn’t try to hide it.

So often, we pretend we’re innocent.

We complain – as though we don’t deserve
the bad things happening to us.

But I know better.

I confess!
Have mercy on me!

Pray this Lazaroo in faith-filled anticipation:

“As a cloud vanishes and is gone, so one who goes down to the grave does not return. He will never come to his house again; his place will know him no more. Therefore I will not keep silent; I will speak out in the anguish of my spirit, I will complain in the bitterness of my soul.”
(Job 7:9-11)

This is the great Job at the lowest point of his life, Jesus…

before You lifted him out of the depths of despair

and put a new song in his heart!

Pray this Lazaroo in bursting-with-joy gratitude:

“The grace…”
(Philemon 1:25)

Your grace, Jesus!

What You did for us on the cross –

dying for sins You didn’t, wouldn’t, couldn’t commit.

The guiltiest among us freely pardoned –

going scot-free!

The exact opposite of justice.
Absolutely nothing fair about it.

G.R.A.C.E.: “God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense!”

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

I would never complain that I’m not getting what I deserve.

I don’t want what I deserve!

What I want is Your Total, Ineradicable, Undeserved, Unmerited

Matchless Grace!

Seek understanding, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Be still before the Lord, all mankind…”
(Zechariah 2:13)

There’s a time to talk, Jesus.

Solomon told us so.

But there’s also a time to hush up.

Solomon told us that, too.

Without question, on countless occasions

You invite me to speak to You – even call to You.

But there are times when I’d be wise to hold my tongue and just listen –

as on those occasions when I start to complain.

You know what You’re doing.
I don’t.

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“I have no peace, no quietness; I have no rest, but only turmoil.”
(Job 3:26)

You allowed Job to suffer in a way that few, if any of us have, Jesus!

All his children were killed at once
leaving him only his critical, heartless wife.

Without warning, he went from vast riches to total poverty
in a single day.

He went from being most respected to ridiculed.
Even his closest friends turned against him.

May I never again complain!

Pray this Lazaroo with unvarnished transparency:

“My groans are many…”
(Lamentations 1:22)

I can usually do a lot of groaning

before I realize it, Jesus.

Other people might complain about my complaints

while they only seem justified to me.

But when I’m the one who notices I’m doing a lot of groaning

that’s an indication that things have become

pretty intense.

Do You get tired of hearing me groan, Father?

Or are You waiting for me to turn them
into believing, trusting, heartfelt prayers?

Pray this Lazaroo with a bucketful of gratitude:

“…we are God’s workmanship…”
(Ephesians 2:10)

O Jesus!

How can I ever complain about what I am?
I’m Your invention, Your craftsmanship!

Or is that craftsGodship?! 😉

David said it first:

“I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made…”
Please forgive me for those times when I forget that.

Now, I beg You:

Show me why You’ve made me like this!
Reveal to me Your highest purpose

and enable me to fulfill it
to Your eternal glory.

Beg God for His strength, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“You have persevered and have endured hardships for my name and have not grown weary.”
(Revelation 2:3)

You’ll never say those words to me, Jesus.

Oh, maybe the perseverance part.
Through it all…I’m still here.

And the part about enduring hardships?
Yup. I’ve seen a few.

But that part about not growing weary?

I flunk.

Some days I catch myself whining and complaining about what’s going on

forgetting that You
are what’s going on.

Forgive me, Father!
