Stand strong! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…as you have heard that the antichrist is coming, even now many antichrists have come.”
(1 John 2:18)

Truer words were never spoken, Jesus.

There are a lot of anti-You people running around these days
tearing up jack.

They’ve chosen the wrong side.
They prefer their way to Yours –

primarily because they have no idea
what Your way is all about.

But the Day is coming

when they will find out.

Help me never stop telling them about You!

Pray this Lazaroo in solemn awe:

“They will flee to caverns in the rocks and to the overhanging crags from the fearful presence of the Lord and the splendor of his majesty, when he rises to shake the earth.”
(Isaiah 2:21)

Such will be the behavior of all who scoffed at You, Jesus!

You were outrageously patient with their wicked behavior

but they concluded You didn’t exist
or that You were too wimpy to act.

In that day they will be the wimpy ones
running from You in fear.

Pray this Lazaroo with antennae up:

“…if he did not spare the ancient world when he brought the flood on its ungodly people…”
(2 Peter 2:5)

I think I can see where this is going, Jesus.

You’re pointing out the punishment
You were forced to mete out years ago

to remind me that You’re the same
yesterday, today and forever.

Yes, You’re slow to anger.

But if I mistake Your loving patience for weakness

I will discover to my sorrow
that my sins will find me out.

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“…I looked for him but did not find him.”
(Song of Songs 3:2)

Frustrating, Jesus!

When there’s somebody I need to see
somebody I want to spend time with
somebody with whom I need to talk things through

it’s truly upsetting not to know where they are.

But I’ve got to trust You, don’t I?

to show me if I need to look harder
or if the time to find them

hasn’t yet arrived.

Maybe what I really need

is to look to You.

Pray this Lazaroo with a teachable heart:

“Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up…”
(1 Peter 2:1)

Some people make fun of spiritual milk, Jesus

but You don’t.

Those same people claim they’re ready for meat

when in fact, their dismissal of spiritual milk
may indicate they’re not yet ready to be weaned.

I want to grow up, LORD!

I long to become mature and complete in You.

Is it possible…

that I’ll never outgrow my need for milk?

Pray this Lazaroo in humble recognition:

“All their days their work is grief and pain; even at night their minds do not rest. This too is meaningless.”
(Ecclesiastes 2:23)

Well, no, it’s not, Jesus.

Just because Solomon didn’t understand its meaning
doesn’t mean it’s meaningless.

Solomon was incredibly wise.
But he wasn’t all-wise.

That description applies only to You!

Besides, it’s not true

that everyone experiences only grief and pain in their work –
along with restless nights.

Solomon was talking mostly about himself, wasn’t he?

Pray this Lazaroo with opened eyes:

“If you do not commit adultery but do commit murder, you have become a lawbreaker.”
(James 2:11)

Pretty obvious, Jesus –

when I see it in somebody else.

But You’re pointing this out through Your half-brother James

because I have a hard time seeing it in myself.

I tend to look at other people’s sins as foolish, tragic, inexcusable

while seeing my own sins as no big deal.

How blind can I be?

I think I’ve already answered that question.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor.”
(Proverbs 3:13-16)

To find wisdom and understanding, Jesus…

I’d better be searching for it!

Always putting You and Your ways first

promises that every good thing will follow.

Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot fervor:

“…I was angry with that generation; I said, ‘Their hearts are always going astray, and they have not known my ways.’ So I declared on oath in my anger, ‘They shall never enter my rest.’”
(Hebrews 3:10-11)

You spell out pretty clearly what causes You to become angry with a generation of people, Jesus:

hearts that go astray
refusal to know Your ways.

O God!

Help me truly know You and Your ways!
Rise up within me so strongly –

that I never stray!

Trust in the LORD, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Lord my God, I take refuge in you; save and deliver me from all who pursue me, or they will tear me apart like a lion and rip me to pieces with no one to rescue me.”
(Psalms 7:1-2)

Your ancestor King David wrote this song to You, Jesus

concerning Cush the Benjamite
who was falsely accusing him.

David was crying out to You for protection –

as do I, LORD!

You’re my only hope

against the immense harm of false accusations.
