Pray this Lazaroo in confidence and respect:

“…for ages past was kept hidden in God, who created all things. His intent was that now, through the church, the manifold wisdom of God should be made known to the rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose that he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
(Ephesians 3:9-11)

You’ve got a plan, Jesus.

It’s a beautiful, perfect, awesome plan.

And nothing in this world or the next has the power to thwart it!

Pray this Lazaroo with growing understanding:

“Hear this, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of Israel, who despise justice and distort all that is right…because of you, Zion will be plowed like a field, Jerusalem will become a heap of rubble, the temple hill a mound overgrown with thickets.”
(Micah 3:9,12)

Your gift and call to be a leader is a staggering responsibility Jesus.

It gives to a human being the ability to sway others

for right
or for wrong

and then to face the consequences.

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful amazement:

“You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.”
(Psalm 8:6-8)

It’s hard to believe You’re talking about me, Jesus…

but You are.

I’m one of those You appointed to be a ruler over the works of Your hands!

In that case
I’d better step it up a notch.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Hear this, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of Israel, who despise justice and distort all that is right; who build Zion with bloodshed, and Jerusalem with wickedness.”
(Micah 3:9-10)

It’s the leaders You hold most accountable, isn’t it, Jesus?

You expect them to set the standard for their followers

to love justice and do what’s right
But with honesty, integrity and hard work –

not by crushing the innocent.

Pray this Lazaroo in the holy fear of God:

“Ephraim is joined to idols; leave him alone! Even when their drinks are gone, they continue their prostitution; their rulers dearly love shameful ways. A whirlwind will sweep them away, and their sacrifices will bring them shame.”
(Hosea 4:17-19)

After repeated willful sin

there comes a point of no return, doesn’t there, Jesus?

when a person – even an entire nation –
are joined to their idols in unholy matrimony

till death and destruction come
and they perish together.

Open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Listen, you leaders of Jacob, you rulers of Israel. Should you not embrace justice, you who hate good and love evil; who tear the skin from my people and the flesh from their bones; who eat my people’s flesh, strip off their skin and break their bones in pieces; who chop them up like meat for the pan, like flesh for the pot?”
(Micah 3:1-3)

Not physical cannibalism, Jesus.

Spiritual.

Abuse.
Lies.
Misinformation.
Neglect.

You view, judge and punish it:

as cannibalism.

Pray this Lazaroo with a pleading heart:

“Hashabiah, ruler of half the district of Keilah, carried out repairs for his district. Next to him, the repairs were made by their fellow Levites under Binnui son of Henadad, ruler of the other half-district of Keilah.”
(Nehemiah 3:17-18)

These weren’t just leaders, Jesus.

They were rulers.

When people of this stature and authority get their hands dirty in order to respond to a crisis

it inspires everyone else to do likewise.

God give us such people at the very top!

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your heart:

“Deliverers will go up on Mount Zion to govern…”
(Obadiah 1:21)

This is a wonderful prophecy, Jesus!

But please help me remember this about Your Greatness:

You do more than one thing at once!

Yes, this prophecy foretells what will happen in Israel.

But it also teaches an exciting principle:

Those whose focus is helping and rescuing others

are the kind of people best suited
to lead, to rule, to govern.

Self-centered leaders are dangerous.

Deliver us from non-deliverers!

Pray this Lazaroo with humility:

“Nehemiah son of Azbuk, ruler of a half-district of Beth Zur, made repairs up to a point opposite the tomb of David, as far as the artificial pool and the House of the Heroes.”
(Nehemiah 3:16)

Here’s another ruler willing to get his hands dirty, Jesus!

Maybe that’s why You lifted him into leadership.

Thank You for every person in high position

who doesn’t think they’re too good
to do whatever needs doing
no matter how menial.

Leaders like that

are easy to follow.

Pray this Lazaroo in triumphant faith:

“…it was impossible for death to keep its hold on him.”
(Acts 2:24)

Oh, HALLELUJAH, Jesus!

Of course it was impossible for death to keep its hold on You –
You’re the Author of Life!

All things have been created through You and for You –

things in heaven and on earth
visible and invisible

whether thrones or powers
or rulers or authorities.

And because by faith I live in You

it’s impossible for death to keep its hold on me!
