Sell out totally to God as you pray this Lazaroo:

“He has made my skin and my flesh grow old and has broken my bones. He has besieged me and surrounded me with bitterness and hardship. He has made me dwell in darkness like those long dead. He has walled me in so I cannot escape; he has weighed me down with chains.”
(Lamentations 3:4-7)

Jeremiah is talking about You, Jesus.

He believed in You.
He obeyed You.

And He knew exactly Who Is In Charge of Everything –

even the most brutal challenges of life.

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“…a tenth of an ephah of the finest flour as a regular grain offering, half of it in the morning and half in the evening. It must be prepared with oil on a griddle; bring it well-mixed and present the grain offering broken in pieces as an aroma pleasing to the Lord.”
(Leviticus 6:20-21)

This was the offering Aaron and his sons brought to You, Jesus

on the day he was anointed.

You’ve anointed me, too, Father.

May I bring to You the finest.
Only the finest.

Pray this Lazaroo with compassion:

“Woe to the city of blood, full of lies, full of plunder, never without victims!”
(Nahum 3:1)

That’s what got to You the most, wasn’t it, Jesus?

The victims.

Those who lost their lives due to the monstrous cruelty embedded in Nineveh’s culture.

Those who lost loved ones, grieving without relief.
Broken promises, broken homes, broken lives.

It was all about the victims then

it’s all about the victims now.

You’re the same – yesterday, today and forever.

Our suffering
continues to break Your heart!

Admit it – as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…if two lie down together, they will keep warm. But how can one keep warm alone? Though one may be overpowered, two can defend themselves. A cord of three strands is not quickly broken.”
(Ecclesiastes 4:11-12)

One more strong reminder, Jesus:

No matter how self-sufficient I feel
I’m not going to do as well all by myself.

No matter how antisocial my personality
sooner or later I’m gonna need somebody.

Please lead me to the right somebody.

Pray this Lazaroo with eyes riveted on Jesus:

“In the middle of the night something startled the man; he turned—and there was a woman lying at his feet!”
(Ruth 3:8)

Ruth had broken protocol, Jesus.

It was not their custom to allow women in the threshing floor.

But Ruth’s mother-in-law Naomi told her to do it

and as far as Ruth was concerned, that trumped their customs.

You honored it!
Naomi was right.

Give me the wisdom to know when to do what’s expected

and when You’ve called me
to take the road less traveled.

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“When I lie down I think, ‘How long before I get up?’ The night drags on, and I toss and turn until dawn. My body is clothed with worms and scabs, my skin is broken and festering. My days are swifter than a weaver’s shuttle, and they come to an end without hope.”
(Job 7:4-6)

We need good sleep, Jesus.

We need good health.

But under Satan’s attack we may enjoy neither.

It’s so easy to feel hopeless like Job.
But I trust in You to rescue me!

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“The Lord…did not withhold his hand from destroying. He made ramparts and walls lament; together they wasted away. Her gates have sunk into the ground; their bars he has broken and destroyed.”
(Lamentations 2:8-9)

It’s easy to have a false idea of who You are, Jesus

believing You would never do such a thing.

Are You the Creator – the very embodiment – of love?

Yes! Absolutely! Hallelujah!

But maybe I’d better get a firmer grasp

on how much You hate sin!

Pray this Lazaroo with burning emotion:

“…the exiles…will possess the towns…”
(Obadiah 1:20)

Exiles are supposed to have zero rights, Jesus.

How in the world could they possess entire towns?

The answer is clear and startling:

The world didn’t do this for them!

You did.

This has Your Signature all over it.

You absolutely love to lift up
the broken, the fallen, the marginalized

those who are laughed at, disrespected
tossed to the curb

displaying in them Your love and mercy
for all the world to see.
