What a devastating outcome, Jesus!

These people were taught right.
They had good examples set before them.

Their parents hadn’t failed.

They had.

They couldn’t wait to throw off the restraints of righteousness

hurrying to leave the safe, narrow path.

Instead, they lusted after the broad, popular path of wickedness.

Rejecting their heritage
they plunged themselves into the inescapable consequences

of the dark, hellish pit.

David didn’t pray this prayer over people who’ve merely slipped, Jesus.

When I run into one of those, I beg You to forgive them,
pick them up, teach them, give them another chance.

After all…that’s what You keep doing for me.

But David has run into a few pathological liars

whose souls are wicked to the core.

He knows the heartbreak, ugliness and devastation that bunch can cause

…and so do You.

The worst part about this tragedy, Jesus

is that everyone who died in this senseless carnage

belonged to You –
descendants of Your servant Abraham.

What percentage of the time do I spend fighting the real enemy of my soul

and how much time do I waste

criticizing and arguing with

my Christian brothers and sisters?

“…they will set it on fire and consume it.”
(Obadiah 1:18)

To have who I am and everything I stand for set on fire would be bad enough, Jesus

but to be consumed?

to have it all destroyed, leaving no trace?

Heartbreak.
Irredeemable tragedy.

That is the unavoidable, inescapable, certain future

for everyone who rejects You.

Not me, LORD!

I accept, trust, believe in, embrace and adore You!

which means my future is as bright

as Your amazing promises.
