“Confessing their sins, they were baptized by him in the Jordan River. But when he saw many of the Pharisees and Sadducees coming to where he was baptizing, he said to them: ‘You brood of vipers! Who warned you to flee from the coming wrath? Produce fruit in keeping with repentance.’”
(Matthew 3:6-8)

John the Baptist didn’t mince words, Jesus!

When all is said and done
more is said than done.

Words are cheap.

Pray this Lazaroo in Spirit-led recognition:

“The man said, ‘The woman you put here with me—she gave me some fruit from the tree, and I ate it.’ Then the LORD God said to the woman, ‘What is this you have done?’ The woman said, ‘The serpent deceived me, and I ate.’”
(Genesis 3:12-13)

We insist it’s someone else’s fault, Jesus.

Even though it isn’t.

No matter what the temptation, the threat, the incentive, the circumstances

if I said it or did it, it’s my fault.

Period.

That amazing response was all You, Jesus!

John did his part, for sure.
He preached and baptized.

But You’re the one who brought the crowds.
You’re the one who caused them to confess and repent.

Every time that happens it’s You!

I’m thinking back to my beginning with You, Jesus!

The day when You drew me to Yourself.
The moment when I realized I believed!

The prayer I prayed, confessing my sinfulness
asking You to forgive me, to save me

to enter my life and lead me wherever You desire
all the way to heaven.

I’m still on that journey!
