Pray this Lazaroo with growing confidence:

“…I will stretch out my hand and strike the Egyptians with all the wonders that I will perform among them. After that, he will let you go.”
(Exodus 3:20)

Mind-blowing, Jesus.

Before you turned Moses’ staff into a snake, then back into a staff
before you turned his hand leprous, then healed

before the plagues of blood, frogs, lice, flies, livestock deaths, boils, hail, locusts, darkness, firstborn deaths…

You orchestrated exactly how it was going to play out…

as You are doing with me.

Pray this Lazaroo with excuseless humility:

“…before the fierce anger of the LORD comes upon you…”
(Zephaniah 2:2)

That’s the last thing I want, Jesus!

I know You’re unimaginably longsuffering.
I know You’re loving, merciful and kind.
You’re unbelievably patient with me.

But there’s a line, isn’t there?

One I’d better never cross.

The thing is, I can’t see it, can’t tell when I’m close.

So I’d better turn around now

change whatever I know needs to be corrected
while I still can.

Take heed, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“They are…arrogant…”
(Romans 1:29-30)

Arrogance is pretty hard to stomach, Jesus.

When I see it, I cringe.

Sadly, it almost always shows up in those You’ve blessed!

Instead of realizing their gifts, skills and triumphs are from You
they believe it’s all because of them.

They think it’s due to their hard work, their brilliance
their superiority over others

which sets them up for Your inevitable punishment

and their disgrace.

May I never, ever – ever!

follow in their footsteps.

Take heed, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“They charge like warriors…”
(Joel 2:7)

Oh, Jesus.

Your warning about this army of locusts
about to descend upon Your people
is terrifying.

You don’t do things like this without fair warning.

You warn us over and over and over again.

In fact, Your kindness is sadly mistaken for unwillingness to act.

Your warnings come so far in advance
that we tragically suppose they will never arrive.

But if we fail to reverse course they will.

Dear God.
They will.

Pray this Lazaroo in sobered awareness:

“‘Even the bravest warriors will flee naked on that day,’ declares the LORD.”
(Amos 2:16)

Now, there’s a graphic image, Jesus.

You have a way of making Your warnings memorable
and crystal clear.

If only this prophecy was intended for the enemies of Your people!

But it wasn’t.

This was the pronouncement of Your judgment on Israel

Your chosen people
the descendants of Abraham.

My takeaway?

If I’m doing any sinning
this would be an outstanding time

to cut it out.
