Open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see. Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent.”
(Revelation 3:18-19)

Thank You for loving me that much, Jesus!

Forgive me for not being grateful at the time.

I’m ashamed to admit that It’s only when I look back

that I can feel the love.

You could have abandoned me in my sin

but You didn’t!

Pray this Lazaroo with a heart full of love:

“Be merciful…”
(Jude 1:22)

I’ve got a question, Jesus:

Why is it so hard for me to be merciful to others

while being the grateful recipient
of all this mercy I’m receiving from You?

I know what I deserve –

and it ain’t peaches and cream.

I deserve dismemberment, humiliation and hell.
Instead, You’ve given me life, golden opportunities and heaven.

Surely, I can muster up a little of Your mercy toward others!

You’ve made it pretty clear:

If I don’t

my own mercy could come to a halt.

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful perspective:

“So then, no more boasting about human leaders! All things are yours, whether Paul or Apollos or Cephas or the world or life or death or the present or the future—all are yours, and you are of Christ, and Christ is of God.”
(1 Corinthians 3:21-23)

It’s okay for us to be grateful for the leaders You’ve so gifted, Jesus

but not to put them on a pedestal of worship.

You’ve gifted us all…even me!

May I never forget that.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy fear:

“You have wearied the Lord with your words. ‘How have we wearied him?’ you ask. By saying, ‘All who do evil are good in the eyes of the Lord, and he is pleased with them…’”
(Malachi 2:17)

To forgive me, Jesus

is a totally different thing
than being pleased with me.

The first happens after I’ve sinned and confessed it.

The second happens when I’ve refused to sin
and remain faithful.

I’m grateful beyond words for Your forgiveness!

But I’d rather You be pleased.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…the Levites took up the ark…and the tent of meeting and all the sacred furnishings in it…and King Solomon and the entire assembly of Israel that had gathered about him were before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep and cattle that they could not be recorded or counted.”
(2 Chronicles 5:4-6)

Oh, Jesus.

I’m so glad I don’t have to kill a bunch of animals
to worship You.

You sacrificed Yourself for me!

In grateful devotion for the rest of my days
I sacrifice myself in passionate service for You.

In faith and trust, deal with it – as you pray this Lazaroo:

“To the angel of the church in Philadelphia write: These are the words of him who is holy and true, who holds the key of David. What he opens no one can shut, and what he shuts no one can open.”
(Revelation 3:7)

We don’t respond very well to that initially, Jesus.

We like to appeal decisions we don’t like.
We like to feel we have some measure of control.

But we don’t.

You do hear every prayer I pray according to Your will!

But when I ask for something not best
may I truly be grateful

that Your answer is no.

Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot fervor:

” to…Archippus our fellow soldier…”
(Philemon 1:2)

Paul knew, Jesus:

We’re in a war.

Right against wrong.
Good against evil.
God against Satan.

In a war, you’ve gotta have soldiers

and Paul was so grateful for Archippus!

Like Paul

I’m grateful for every soldier who understands this war
and comes alongside me in the fight.

Most wars are life and death –

small potatoes compared to this one –

which is eternal life and death.

With stakes this high

I need every fellow soldier You provide!

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“They stumble because they disobey the message—which is also what they were destined for. But you are a chosen people…”
(1 Peter 2:8-9)

I hardly know what to do with this, Jesus.

To think that some people are destined to reject You
seems so unfair.

But to think that You chose and destined me to accept You?
That’s awesome!

Bottom line?

I trust You!
Your ways are far superior to mine.

And I am beyond grateful

to be included in Your wholly undeserved, unfathomable love!

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes behind your veil are doves. Your hair is like a flock of goats descending from the hills of Gilead. Your teeth are like a flock of sheep just shorn, coming up from the washing. Each has its twin; not one of them is alone.”
(Songs of Songs 4:1-2)

No missing teeth!

This cracks me up, Jesus…

and teaches me to be grateful

for those You’ve placed in my life.

Pray this Lazaroo with lavish love:

“Now to you who believe, this stone is precious. But to those who do not believe, ‘The stone the builders rejected has become the cornerstone,’ and, ‘A stone that causes people to stumble and a rock that makes them fall.’”
(1 Peter 2:7)

You’re that Stone, Jesus!

It’s unthinkable to me that anyone rejected You then

or can reject You now.

But You know those who are Yours.

I don’t know why You’ve chosen me
but I am grateful beyond all words!
