Pray this Lazaroo in deepest gratitude:

“I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.”

It really does take a miracle to accomplish that, doesn’t it, Jesus?

Do I have a part?
Sure.

But try though I might, I can’t conjure up saving faith.

That kind of faith is a gift from You
straight from heaven.

That faith is mine!

Could there be any more chilling words, Jesus?

In this or any language.

First of all, I can’t make it without You.

Try though I might, I’m not enough.

But if You would also be against me?

Then I’d be doomed.
No one can successfully stand against You.

However…

You’re not against me!

I’ve completely, wholeheartedly, irrevocably
given myself to You.

I’m Yours.
Your mine.

“’…the word of the Lord stands forever.’ And this is the word that was preached to you.”

It’s the only word worth preaching, Jesus.

No matter how sincere, no matter how well-researched
no matter how firmly based on hard-earned personal experience

my word won’t stand.

Try though I might, mean it with everything in me
I’m still flawed – because I’m human!

It’s inevitable: I will make mistakes.

But!

When my word agrees with Yours
I’m flawless.

Where’s my place to praise You, Jesus?

Oh, I know – You deserve to be praised everywhere
at all times.

But surely there are places

that I will praise You way more effectively than others.

Because there must be places that try though I might

my way of praising You would fall on deaf ears.
Even backfire.

Actually…

I think I’ve been to a few of those places. 😉
