Pray this Lazaroo with Godly emotion:

“I wrote you…with many tears…”
(2 Corinthians 2:4)

I guess they’re far more spiritual than the Apostle Paul, Jesus –

those who insist if I have enough faith

I’ll always smile no matter what
I’ll never weep in anguish of heart.

Or maybe not…

because Paul knew there were some things worth weeping over:

lost opportunities
lost blessings
lost people.

Tears for the right reason have nothing to do with how much faith I have

but with how much love.

Pray this Lazaroo in soul-deep gratitude:

“…She is the Moabite who came back from Moab with Naomi.”
(Ruth 2:6)

That was enough to permanently mark Ruth an outcast, Jesus.

The Jews knew the Moabites were descended from Moab
the son of Lot

born of an incestuous relationship
with his oldest daughter.

They were pagans, worshiping false gods
leading Israel away from You into sexual sin.

Yet You transformed her into one of Your ancestors – the ultimate insider!

just as You’ve transformed me
into Your child.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast hope:

“I came to you in weakness…”
(1 Corinthians 2:3)

That’s not how Paul wanted to show up, Jesus.

I don’t want to meet a new group of people that way, either.

But that’s the hand Paul was dealt

so he soldiered on, putting all his trust in You.

There have been times when You’ve put me in that same position, Father

perhaps for the same reason:

to teach me to soldier on
putting all my trust in You.

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“They provoked the LORD to anger because they forsook him and served Baal and the Ashtoreths.”
(Judges 2:12-13)

No wonder You were angry, Father!

These were gods of their own creation
gods You had warned them against

gods who had never done anything for them
because as the product of their imaginations

they couldn’t.

The things I create contain the same danger, LORD.

May I keep You first, always, Jesus!
employing what I create

to serve You.

Pray this Lazaroo with catalytic dedication:

“They have become filled with every kind of…evil…”
(Romans 1:29)

There are two things that scare me about that phrase, Jesus:

If these people are eaten up with every kind of evil
they’re unsafe to be around

especially because of the other thing that scares me:

it they’re filled with all that evil
there’s no room for good.

Unless You work a miracle of deliverance in them

even the most convincing, heartfelt witness about You
falls on deaf ears.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast belief:

“…we will not be responsible.”
(Joshua 2:19)

And they weren’t, Jesus!

I take my stand on Your promise:

If with all my heart I endeavor to please You in everything I think, say and do

if I warn those who are going astray
if I give chance after chance to those who’ve wronged me

I am not responsible for their wicked, defiant, foolish behavior

no matter how adamantly they or others
try to place that blame on my shoulders.

Pray this Lazaroo with gratitude to the One Who came to us!

“…this is what was spoken by the prophet Joel…”
(Acts 2:16)

Joel prophesied that in the last days, You’d pour out Your Spirit on all people, Jesus –

young and old
men and women.

You have.

And You are.

On this day, I’m thinking especially about that young woman on whom You poured out Your Spirit, Father…

Mary, mother of Your Son.

Because He came

I live.

And so on this Day of days, it’s not Xmas for me.

It’s Christmas.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“When the LORD heard what you said…”
(Deuteronomy 1:34)

When do You hear what I say, Jesus?

Every time.

Whether I speak it, whisper it or shout it

write it, tweet it, sign it or post it.

Not only that, You know what I’m going to say before I say it.

So I guess that means You “hear” it twice.

On top of that, You know my thoughts before, during and after.

There’s no hiding who I am
from You.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“They said, ‘Rabbi’ (which means ‘Teacher’), ‘where are you staying?’”
(John 1:38)

I don’t blame them, Jesus!

I want to know where You’re staying, too
because that’s where I want to go

and stay.

Doesn’t matter how far.
I don’t care how hard it is to get there.

Wherever You are

is where I want to be.

When You move, I need to know

‘cause I’m moving with You.

I don’t want to go anywhere, anyhow, anytime

without You.
