Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

[The man:] “’You are a garden fountain, a well of flowing water streaming down from Lebanon.’ [The woman:] ‘Awake, north wind, and come, south wind! Blow on my garden, that its fragrance may spread everywhere. Let my beloved come into his garden and taste its choice fruits.’”
(Song of Songs 4:15-16)

The man praises her, Jesus…

the woman responds in kind.

Give me Your words to brighten someone’s day!

And when they brighten mine
help me respond in kind.

Go to school as you pray this Lazaroo:

“How delightful is your love, my sister, my bride! How much more pleasing is your love than wine, and the fragrance of your perfume more than any spice! Your lips drop sweetness as the honeycomb, my bride; milk and honey are under your tongue. The fragrance of your garments is like the fragrance of Lebanon.”
(Song of Songs 4:10-11)

Such over-the-top language may embarrass us, Jesus.

But unless I miss my guess

Solomon’s Shulammite bride
loved every word of it!

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“They shall remove all the fat, just as the fat is removed from the fellowship offering, and the priest shall burn it on the altar as an aroma pleasing to the Lord. In this way the priest will make atonement for them, and they will be forgiven.”
(Leviticus 4:31)

I’m so glad we don’t have to do all that anymore, Jesus!

Now, there’s a new aroma – one even more pleasing to You:

the knowledge about You we spread everywhere!

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“But thanks be to God, who always leads us as captives in Christ’s triumphal procession and uses us to spread the aroma of the knowledge of him everywhere.”
(2 Corinthians 2:14)

I’m Your willing captive, Jesus!

I surrender all.

March me anywhere You like.

Use me in any way You desire.

Do with me whatever You please.

I say this because I’ve learned the hard way:

You alone know what’s best.

Your way?

An aromatic fragrance.

My way?

A putrid stench.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble adulation:

“…the blossoming vines spread their fragrance.”
(Song of Songs 2:13)

That is so, so, so like You, Jesus!

A lot of us don’t much care for vines.

They wrap around trees and other desirables

choking the life out of our preferred plants
unless we keep the vines chopped out.

So what do You do?

You give the vines flowers.

To top it off

You give the flowers fragrance

reminding me that even the things I hate

come from You.
