Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“…I will give you…both wealth and honor—so that in your lifetime you will have no equal among kings. And if you walk in obedience to me and keep my decrees and commands as David your father did, I will give you a long life.”
(1 Kings 3:13-14)

In spite of Your amazing promises to him

Solomon strayed, Jesus.

How is that even possible?

I guess the same way I stray
in spite of all Your amazing promises to me.

Please rise up within me
to break this terrible cycle!

Pray this Lazaroo with informed caution:

“Woe to the city of blood, full of lies, full of plunder…”
(Nahum 3:1)

People would expect a city full of plunder

to be in pretty good shape, Jesus!

But it’s the blood they’ve shed to get it
the lies they’ve told to keep it

that earn Your pronouncement of woe.

When You say, “Woe!”

I’d better say, “Woah!”

and quickly repent
stop harming others
stop telling lies

or I’ll discover firsthand
just how terrible Your woes can be.

Desperate people who don’t worship You

end up doing terrible, unthinkable things, Jesus!

May my faith be in You alone

causing me to do only what is good!
