Pray this Lazaroo with outrageous adoration:

“…more than I ask.”
(Philemon 1:21)

Who does that, Jesus?

Really good people
powered by You.

Most people do less

attempting to gauge the minimum it takes to get by.

Doesn’t matter how much I ask.

They have their margins, their schedules, their limits.

Frankly, so do I.

But when I feel Your inner prompt, Holy Spirit

when You rise up within me
flooding me with conviction

I’m able to rise above myself
and be better than my best.

Pray this Lazaroo with God-given confidence:

“…filled with gladness…”
(Job 3:22)

There are lots of reasons to be filled with gladness, Jesus

but Job’s was pretty bleak.

He was so deeply depressed over the loss of his loved ones, his possessions and his health that he wanted to die.

He assumed when he did, he would be filled with gladness.

He had no clue this was happening

because You bragged about him to Satan!

Teach me to trust You

when life doesn’t make sense.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“…teach the older women to be reverent…”
(Titus 2:3)

Why do older women need to be taught reverence, Jesus?

You’d think they’d know all about it.
And of course, they do.

But maybe that’s the problem.

The attitude of been there, done that.

Bring back to me the devoted reverence of my earliest days in You!

May I never take anything about You for granted.

Keep me fresh.
Heighten my awe.

May I never be lacking

in deepest reverence.

Pray this Lazaroo in a spirit of accountability:

“Mordecai found out about the plot and told Queen Esther…”
(Esther 2:22)

It’s not enough to find out about something dangerous, is it, Jesus?

I’ve got to tell somebody.

That in itself may be dangerous.

No matter.
I can’t keep it to myself and let something bad happen.

I may not be able to prevent it.

But You’re the One who made sure I learned about it.
I know You’re watching to see if I will do the right thing.

Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“…that they too may obtain the salvation that is in Christ Jesus…”
(2 Timothy 2:10)

It’s not only about me, is it, Jesus?

Straight up? I confess:

I sometimes forget that.

Although I say differently – believe differently! –

my thoughts, words and actions reveal the stark truth:

I’ve got a lot of work to do
to become the person You’ve created me to be.

Okay. Them’s the facts.

Now…back to work.

Thank You for never, ever giving up on me!

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“They also repaired five hundred yards of the wall…”
(Nehemiah 3:13)

Five football fields, Jesus – more than a quarter of a mile…

…of wall!

No small feat.

But of course, that word, “repaired” means

that much of the wall was broken down.
Talk about discouraging. Overwhelming!

Then there’s that other word: “also.”

That tells me this wasn’t the only task staring them in the face.

But working in Your strength, power and protection, they did it!

So can I.

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“I am not lying…”
(1 Timothy 2:7)

I feel for the Apostle Paul, Jesus.

These people thought so little of him
that he had to defend his own honor as a truthful man.

The worst part about it is that the moment you have to protest:

“I’m not lying!”

…it sounds like you are.

I know. I’ve been there.

The moment those words left my mouth
I felt how unbelievable they sounded.

But You know.
The truth will come out.

Pray this Lazaroo with no-holds-barred surrender:

“…they sang to the LORD…”
(Ezra 3:11)

That’s a wonderful thing, Jesus.

There’s a huge difference between singing about You

and singing to You.

When I sing about You, I’m testifying to others.

That’s a good thing!

But when I sing to You, It’s You and me, 1on1.

When I truly mean those words from my heart
there’s nothing like it.

It’s the difference between telling others,

“I love Him…”

and looking directly into Your loving eyes:

“I love You!”

Pray this Lazaroo with all your might:

“God chose you…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:13)

Are there any sweeter words in any language, Jesus?

You chose me!

Me! Unworthy, sin-stained, fault-ridden, inconsistent, sad sack me!

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!
Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

This must stun all of heaven.

The angels’ jaws have to drop.
Satan must be blinking in disbelief, baffled.

But not as baffled as I…nor those who know me.

Every time we lift Your Name in worship

The loudest praise

should be mine.

Pray this Lazaroo in lavish worship:

“He adorned the temple with precious stones.”
(2 Chronicles 3:6)

As he oversaw the building of the temple

Solomon did his best to honor, worship and exalt you, Jesus.

That’s the desire of my heart!

I’m sure You enjoyed those precious stones, Father

but I have none to give.

What I’m offering You is the best of who I am and what You’ve given me.

Everything that is mine came from Your hand.

Back into Your hands they go.
