Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…the Levites took up the ark…and the tent of meeting and all the sacred furnishings in it…and King Solomon and the entire assembly of Israel that had gathered about him were before the ark, sacrificing so many sheep and cattle that they could not be recorded or counted.”
(2 Chronicles 5:4-6)

Oh, Jesus.

I’m so glad I don’t have to kill a bunch of animals
to worship You.

You sacrificed Yourself for me!

In grateful devotion for the rest of my days
I sacrifice myself in passionate service for You.

Pray this Lazaroo with soul-satisfying confidence:

“The land by the sea…will belong to the remnant of the people of Judah; there they will find pasture.”
(Zephaniah 2:6-7)

This was no small promise, Jesus.

If Your people were shepherding 100,000 sheep
they needed 10,000 acres of pasture!

You’ve promised to provide for my needs, too.

I can rest assured:

You know exactly what I need
when I need it.

When You enable me to get where I’m going

there it will be

waiting for me.

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“How beautiful you are, my darling! Oh, how beautiful! Your eyes behind your veil are doves. Your hair is like a flock of goats descending from the hills of Gilead. Your teeth are like a flock of sheep just shorn, coming up from the washing. Each has its twin; not one of them is alone.”
(Songs of Songs 4:1-2)

No missing teeth!

This cracks me up, Jesus…

and teaches me to be grateful

for those You’ve placed in my life.

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“In the temple courts he found people selling cattle, sheep and doves, and others sitting at tables exchanging money. So he made a whip out of cords, and drove all from the temple courts, both sheep and cattle; he scattered the coins of the money changers and overturned their tables.”
(John 2:14-15)

There’s a proper way to handle money in Your courts, Jesus

and there’s a disrespectful way.

When You saw Your holy place being desecrated

You blew the minds of the nonviolent crowd.

Pray this Lazaroo with overflowing gratitude:

“Return to the Lord your God, for he is gracious and compassionate, slow to anger and abounding in love, and he relents from sending calamity.”
(Joel 2:13)

O Jesus!

Yes!

I never want to stray, never want to sin, never want to disappoint You.

But when I do –

for sadly, I have many times –

don’t let me stay out there in the wilderness!

Bring back this wandering sheep to You!

For You are indeed loving, gracious, compassionate!

You would far rather bless me

than punish.

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“If someone brings a lamb as their sin offering, they are to bring a female without defect. They are to lay their hand on its head and slaughter it for a sin offering at the place where the burnt offering is slaughtered.”
(Leviticus 4:32-33)

What an awful and powerful reminder

of the seriousness of my sin, Jesus!

That an innocent little lamb had to die because of what I did!

Especially because I don’t have to sin.

Great God Almighty!

Help me stop it!

Pray this Lazaroo with earnest desire:

“But when the judge died, the people returned to ways even more corrupt than those of their fathers…”
(Judges 2:19)

It’s clear, Jesus.

Righteous leadership is essential!

Left to ourselves, we stray.

We don’t like to think of ourselves as sheep
but history proves it over and over again:

We need a shepherd.

You Are the Great Shepherd!

We are Your sheep, the precious people of Your flock.

But please, LORD:

Give us holy, pure, wise, faithful, Godly undershepherds.

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“…the wool of a hundred thousand rams.”
(2 Kings 3:4)

That’s a lot of wool, Jesus

not to mention a lot of rams.

The great thing about shearing them

is that it all grows back.

A year later, they produce another hundred thousand coats.

Good for them
good for those who need their wool.

I’ve been sheared a few times myself, Father!

Next time You see fit to shear me of all my wool
help me remember these rams.

Be overwhelmed with gratitude, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Now Mesha king of Moab raised sheep…”
(2 Kings 3:4)

So do You, Jesus

and I’m one of them.

I cannot thank You enough for making me one of Your flock!

You lead me, guide me, care for me.

Like a sheep, however

there have been times when I’ve strayed.

You could have written me off…

but You didn’t.

You’re my Shepherd!

You left the obedient ninety-nine
went after me and brought me back –

your dirty, cold, hungry
lost sheep.
