Pray this Lazaroo with deep reverence:

“‘It is you who have ruined my vineyard; the plunder from the poor is in your houses. What do you mean by crushing my people and grinding the faces of the poor?’ declares the Lord, the Lord Almighty.”
(Isaiah 3:14-15)

May you never say that of me, Jesus!

I know You love and care for the poor.

That means I had better love and care for them, too –

offering them the wholehearted respect
due everyone created in Your Image.

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“…the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from trials and to hold the unrighteous for punishment on the day of judgment. This is especially true of those who follow the corrupt desire of the flesh and despise authority.”
(2 Peter 2:9-10)

There are times and circumstances, Jesus

when none of us likes being told what to do.

And of course, there are evil people in authority

whose sinful commands must be disobeyed.

But may I always be wholeheartedly responsive

to the commands of Your Word!

Pray this Lazaroo with burning zeal:

“Not satisfied with that…”
(3 John 1:10)

This guy Diotrephes was a real piece of work, Jesus.

He wasn’t satisfied with causing a little bit of trouble.
He wanted to create a lot –

which is why Paul called him out on it.

But that raises an interesting question:

Am I satisfied with doing a little bit of good, now and then?

Or am I not satisfied

until I am fully, completely, wholeheartedly
fulfilling Your highest plan for my life!

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intent:

“My son, do not let wisdom and understanding out of your sight, preserve sound judgment and discretion; they will be life for you, an ornament to grace your neck. Then you will go on your way in safety, and your foot will not stumble.”
(Proverbs 3:21-23)

Those are amazing promises, Jesus!

But it’s not generic wisdom You’re talking about, is it?

It’s Your wisdom
Your understanding

Gained by saturating my life in Your Word

followed by wholehearted obedience.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“‘In the last times there will be scoffers who will follow their own ungodly desires.’ These are the people who divide you…”
(Jude 1:18-19)

These people like to divide and conquer, don’t they, Jesus?

They’ll tell any lie
twist any truth
to secure an advantage.

They delight in turning one person against another

leaving them in the driver’s seat with both.

Help me see through them, Holy Spirit!

May I strive for unity
with all who wholeheartedly follow You.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy fear:

“Judah has desecrated the sanctuary the Lord loves by marrying women who worship a foreign god. As for the man who does this, whoever he may be, may the Lord remove him from the tents of Jacob—even though he brings an offering to the Lord Almighty.”
(Malachi 2:11-12)

So much for trying to buy my way back into Your good graces, Jesus.

If I ever stoop that low, I’d do well to remember – while my head is still attached:

100% wholehearted repentance
is my only hope.

Pray this Lazaroo with outrageous adoration:

“…more than I ask.”
(Philemon 1:21)

Who does that, Jesus?

Really good people
powered by You.

Most people do less

attempting to gauge the minimum it takes to get by.

Doesn’t matter how much I ask.

They have their margins, their schedules, their limits.

Frankly, so do I.

But when I feel Your inner prompt, Holy Spirit

when You rise up within me
flooding me with conviction

I’m able to rise above myself
and be better than my best.

Pray this Lazaroo in mind-blown gratitude:

“…everyone who calls on the name of the Lord will be saved.”
(Acts 2:21)

Is there any greater promise, Jesus?

I don’t think so.

It’s no surprise that the best of the best get to go to heaven.

But that word “everyone”
includes the likes of sloppy, mistaken-ridden
totally undeserving

me.

No, this promise doesn’t apply if I call on You insincerely.

I’ve got to call on You wholeheartedly
repeatedly giving You everything I’ve got

while still falling short.

Pray this Lazaroo with unbridled passion:

“…because he followed the LORD wholeheartedly.”
(Deuteronomy 1:36)

Is there any other way to follow You, Jesus?

Sadly, there is:

halfheartedly
indifferently
distractedly
thoughtlessly
lukewarmly
carelessly.

But none of those is worthy of You!

You deserve my wholehearted devotion.

You deserve all of me, not part of me.

You deserve my total focus
my maximum effort
my absolute best.

On the cross, You gave Your all for me.

How dare I give any less than my everything for You!
