Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“Lord my God, if I have done this and there is guilt on my hands—if I have repaid my ally with evil or without cause have robbed my foe—then let my enemy pursue and overtake me; let him trample my life to the ground and make me sleep in the dust.”
(Psalms 7:3-5)

David was absolutely confident of his righteousness, Jesus!

I…not so much.

All I can pray is:

Please be merciful to me, a repentant sinner.

Pray this Lazaroo filled with gratitude:

“He has filled the hungry with good things but has sent the rich away empty.”
(Luke 1:53)

When we think we’ve got life figured out, Jesus

You flip the script!

There’s something about You that loves doing that, isn’t there?

I love that about You, too.

You have such a heart for those who struggle and are hurting.

You also have a heart for those You’ve richly blessed
who love to share.

But for the stingy?
Not so much.

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful awe:

“…the exiles from Jerusalem who are in Sepharad…”
(Obadiah 1:20)

Out of 66 books, 1,189 chapters, 41,173 verses and 774,746 words

this is the only place in the Bible that mentions Sepharad, Jesus.

Where is it? Nobody knows.

Well, of course they knew where it was back then, but today?

Not so much.

Maybe Iran, Turkey, Iberia, even Spain.

Or not.

How awesome that such an obscure, forgettable place of exile

cannot hide Your love for Your scattered people.

Act wisely, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…they disobey their parents…”
(Romans 1:30)

Some parents ought to be disobeyed, Jesus –

anytime they tell a child to do something
You tell them not to do.

Your Word trumps parental authority.

But when it’s anything else –

even if it’s something the child doesn’t like –

that child would be very wise to obey mom or dad.

You’re watching.

Children who honor their fathers and mothers
tend to live a long time.

Those who don’t?
Not so much.

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…the…struggle…you saw I had…”
(Philippians 1:30)

So how do I respond to people’s struggles, Jesus?

Sometimes I hurt with them, feel it to the bone
fervently pray.

But at other times, not so much.

Sometimes I quickly look away
not wanting to grapple with it.

Sometimes I shudder,
thinking, “Glad it’s not me.”

Sometimes I believe they’re getting
what they deserve.

Forgive me, LORD!

Enable me to respond to their pain
as I beg You to respond to mine.

Pray this Lazaroo in devoted passion:

“What I have vowed I will make good.”
(Jonah 2:9)

Easier said than done, Jesus.

At the time I make a vow
I’m fired up, determined.

But all that passion tends to fade.

That’s what Jonah ran into.

At first he was on fire!
Later on…not so much.

It’s the “later on” that separates the sheep from the goats, isn’t it?

I’ve been a goat too many times in my life, LORD!

Please. By Your grace:

Not this time.

Pray this Lazaroo with excuseless humility:

“…all Levites – joined together in supervising…”
(Ezra 3:9)

I’m sure some Levites were awesome supervisors, Jesus

some less so
some not so much

and some totally stunk it up.

At least, based on my experience, that’s my guess.

Anytime everybody in one family does the same thing
some are better than others

and there’s always at least one clunker in the bunch.

For all I know

I’m that clunker in my bunch.

If so…
thanks for including me.
