Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“…whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law, so that every mouth may be silenced and the whole world held accountable to God. Therefore no one will be declared righteous in God’s sight by the works of the law; rather, through the law we become conscious of our sin.”
(Romans 3:19-20)

Well, I’m certainly conscious of mine, Jesus.

My sins stare me in the face.
I live with their consequences.

But Hallelujah!

Through my faith in Your death and resurrection
I’m no longer under the law!

Pray this Lazaroo in zealous love:

“For all who rely on the works of the law are under a curse, as it is written: ‘Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.’ Clearly no one who relies on the law is justified before God, because ‘the righteous will live by faith.’”
(Galatians 3:10-11)

I keep trying to do good, Jesus

and so I should.

But not to earn my salvation!

I give my all to please You
In gratitude for your gift of faith.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble adulation:

“…it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.”
(Philippians 3:13)

That’s what I’ve asked You to do, Jesus!

I don’t want anything but what You want.

By myself…

I don’t know enough
I don’t understand enough
I don’t love enough.

But You do!

You’ve saved my life.

Therefore I trust You with my life.

Did I say, “my” life?

No.

My life is Yours!
Forever and ever and ever.

Pull on your work gloves, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling…”
(Philippians 2:12)

I can’t work UP my salvation, Jesus.

I’m saved by my faith in You, not by my works.

But I do have to work OUT my salvation once I’ve received it!

Not casually, but with fear and trembling –

‘cause the stakes are really, really, really high!

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful amazement:

“You made them rulers over the works of your hands; you put everything under their feet: all flocks and herds, and the animals of the wild, the birds in the sky, and the fish in the sea, all that swim the paths of the seas.”
(Psalm 8:6-8)

It’s hard to believe You’re talking about me, Jesus…

but You are.

I’m one of those You appointed to be a ruler over the works of Your hands!

In that case
I’d better step it up a notch.

Pray this Lazaroo with inexpressible gratitude:

“There remains, then, a Sabbath-rest for the people of God; for anyone who enters God’s rest also rests from their works, just as God did from his. Let us, therefore, make every effort to enter that rest, so that no one will perish by following their example of disobedience.”
(Hebrews 4:9-11)

I rest, Jesus –

from my futile work of attempting to earn my salvation.

I can’t – no matter how hard I try.

I confess that my faith in You –

Your death, burial and resurrection –

is my only hope for eternal life!

Stay focused, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Have you suffered so much for nothing – if it really was for nothing? Does God give you his Spirit and work miracles among you because you observe the law, or because you believe what you heard?”
(Galatians 3:4)

Paul’s getting a little perturbed at them, Jesus.

They’re still trying to work their way to heaven

instead of trusting what You did on the cross
as payment in full for their sins.

Please don’t let me make the same mistake!

Pray this Lazaroo with straightened priorities:

“I would like to learn just one thing from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by believing what you heard?”
(Galatians 3:2)

If there was ever a rhetorical question, Jesus

this is it.

Paul knew the answer!

He devoted his entire life to sharing the good news
that while no one is good enough to earn heaven
You paid our sin debt with Your life on the cross

for all who truly believe.

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…it is by grace you have been saved.”
(Ephesians 2:5)

If somebody asked me, “Can you save yourself?”

I’d tell them, “No!”

Only You can save me, Jesus.

So why do I sometimes act like that’s not the case?

When I can tell I’m falling short in my efforts to live like You

I’m sometimes haunted by fears that I might miss heaven.

Please remind me, Jesus!

What You did for me on the cross
is way, way more than enough.
