Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“When the time came for the purification rites required by the Law of Moses, Joseph and Mary took him to Jerusalem to present him to the Lord…and to offer a sacrifice in keeping with what is said in the Law of the Lord: ‘a pair of doves or two young pigeons.’”
(Luke 2:22, 24)

Joseph and Mary did what they knew to do for You, Jesus.

Such small things.

But they were obedient to Your Word

leaving the outcome in Your Father’s Hands.

That’s all I can do

but I had better make sure I do it!

Pray this Lazaroo with unwavering devotion:

“…the king of Egypt said, ‘Moses and Aaron, why are you taking the people away from their labor? Get back to your work!’’…That same day Pharaoh gave this order: ‘You are no longer to supply the people with straw for making bricks; let them go and gather their own straw.”
(Exodus 5:4,6-7)

When I obey You, Jesus

sometimes things get worse.

At first.

But when I continue to obey You no matter what

the outcome is always more than worth it.

Awake! as you pray this Lazaroo:

“In that day seven women will take hold of one man and say, ‘We will eat our own food and provide our own clothes; only let us be called by your name. Take away our disgrace!’”
(Isaiah 4:1)

Sin doesn’t end in triumph, Jesus

but in humiliation.

Satan packs all his pleasures into the first moments of my disobedience

then leaves me hurting, disgraced, bankrupt.

How many times do I have to see this outcome of temptation

before I reject it?

Pray this Lazaroo with concern:

“…Diotrephes…loves to be first…”
(3 John 1:9)

What’s up with people like that, Jesus?

Are they leaders? Role models? Winners?
People I’d love to have on my team?

Well…no.

You haven’t called me to be better than anyone else.

You want me to be the best version of myself

You’ve created me to be

then leave the outcome to You.

You’re looking for people who long to please You

not people driven to be superior to everyone else.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy fear:

“…without…disputing.”
(1 Timothy 2:8)

You’re not commanding Your Church to be only “yes people,” Jesus.

We’re allowed to disagree, to share alternative views
so long as they’re based on Your Word
and not mere opinion.

But what You forbid is disputing – argumentative disagreement –

the kind that is disrespectful, disruptive, disorderly.

Disputing destroys the unity of Your Church
which is so crucial to Your mission!

Show me how to respectfully offer a different view

while trusting You for the outcome.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“…they quickly turned from the way in which their fathers had walked….”
(Judges 2:17)

What a devastating outcome, Jesus!

These people were taught right.
They had good examples set before them.

Their parents hadn’t failed.

They had.

They couldn’t wait to throw off the restraints of righteousness

hurrying to leave the safe, narrow path.

Instead, they lusted after the broad, popular path of wickedness.

Rejecting their heritage
they plunged themselves into the inescapable consequences

of the dark, hellish pit.
