Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“…refusing to be comforted, because they are no more.”
(Matthew 2:18)

If someone I loved truly ceased to exist

I’d refuse to be comforted too, Jesus!

But there’s hope for everyone I love

who’s put their trust in You.

You’re the Giver of Eternal Life!

For now I may have to go without seeing them
but I know I’ll rejoin them in heaven.

With You, in You, through You, because of You

it’s never “Goodbye.”
It’s: “See you later.”

Pray this Lazaroo in sudden awareness:

“…refusing to be comforted…”
(Matthew 2:18)

When the pain is that great, Jesus…

only then does someone refuse to be comforted.

It’s hard on their friends and family, who desperately want to help.

But far harder on the one who grieves.

The words, gestures, offers to “let me know if you need anything”

are not only useless

they’re offensive –

as if such things could somehow lessen the agony.

Is that how You felt, Father

when they crucified Your Son?
