Pray this Lazaroo with no-holds-barred commitment:

“I testify that this is the Son of God.”
(John 1:34)

John paid with his life for that testimony, Jesus!

How can I do less?

No, I’m not experiencing the same threats that faced John.

Most of mine are more subtle.

The people around me don’t particularly care what I believe about You

so long as it doesn’t affect them.

But the moment following You requires me to speak up
to fight for what’s right in my family, nation, world

that’s when my testimony become expensive.

Pray this Lazaroo with new eyes:

“They were responsible for the care of the…articles of the sanctuary used in ministering…”
(Numbers 3:31)

What a vital task, Jesus!

At first glance, whatever I use to minister seems unremarkable –
made by flawed human beings.

Some of it isn’t even made well.

But its value doesn’t lie in what it’s made of or how it’s made.

Its worth is great
because of what it’s used for:

ministering to You and Your people.

Suddenly, these ordinary objects –

guitars, stands, microphones, screens –

are priceless.

Pray this Lazaroo in openmouthed awe:

“For nothing is impossible with God.”
(Luke 1:37)

I know that’s true, Jesus…

but almost “impossible” for me to grasp. 😉

I sometimes act as though my prayer is too embarrassing to mention

because what I desire is so huge
…or way too small to bother You with.

At other times I’m ashamed to keep asking over and over for the same thing

forgetting that You can read my mind.

For now, I guess I’ll just leave it at this:

You
Are
Amazing.

Pray this Lazaroo in wholehearted surrender:

“…before the LORD…”
(Leviticus 4:18)

It’s all before You, isn’t it, Jesus?

There’s not a thing in heaven or on earth
that escapes Your attention.

You know every thought I think
every word I speak
everything I do.

So why do I sometimes behave as though You don’t?

On the seventh day of creation You rested
but You never – ever – sleep.

I’m pretty sure You don’t even blink.

Forgive me for these foolish sins, LORD.

I know better…
which means I’m without excuse.

Pray this Lazaroo in Spirit-filled wisdom:

“…he traveled throughout Galilee, preaching in their synagogues and driving out demons.”
(Mark 1:39)

Some people say demons don’t exist, Jesus.

But You say they do.
I’ll take Your Word for it.

Other people blame demons for everything they don’t like.

That might be giving Satan and his demons a little too much credit.

Some of it comes from my own sinful, human nature
and some of it is a training exercise designed by You.

Please give me Your wisdom to discern the difference!

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“I am sending you to Pharaoh to bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt.”
(Exodus 3:10)

It was an impossible task, Jesus.

Right up Your alley.

One man, wanted for murder

sent back to the scene of the crime
to break out three million Jews from their Egyptian prison

which – as everyone knew –
would eliminate Egypt’s slave labor force
crippling their economy.

But that’s what You did through Moses
a man utterly surrendered to You.

So…what do You want to do through me?

Keep an open mind, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“So he got up…and left for Egypt…”
(Matthew 2:14)

First You tell Your people never to return to Egypt, Jesus…

then You tell Joseph to get up in the middle of the night
and take Your only Son back to the country
from which You delivered Your people.

Were You being inconsistent? Going back on Your Word?

No!

Different time.
Different circumstances.

Following You means more than remembering how You directed me in the past.

Yesterday’s bad pitch
may be today’s home run.

Be forewarned, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“The woman said to the serpent…”
(Genesis 3:2)

Correct me if I’m wrong, Jesus:

Wasn’t allowing herself to be drawn into a conversation with Satan
Eve’s first mistake?

I’m not likely to come out on top of such an exchange, am I?

Satan has been around for millennia.
I’m a wet-behind-the-ears newcomer.

Before he sends one of his minions to engage me in conversation

he studies me to discover my weaknesses
exposes my greatest vulnerability.

I’m better off to tell him what You did:

“Go!”

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful awareness:

“I gave them to him…”
(Malachi 2:5)

What have You given me, Jesus?

Specifically…what have You given me

that I’m overlooking?

Some things are obvious:

You’ve given me life, air to breathe, a unique personality.
You’ve given me a beating heart, food, clothing, shelter.

But what abilities have You bestowed on me

that I’m taking for granted?

What experiences have You afforded me

that You intend for me to leverage?

If I’ve been ignoring an unopened package

please point it out.
