Pray this Lazaroo in growing recognition:

“The LORD has decreed for Jacob…”
(Lamentations 1:17)

Strong words, Jesus.

Clearly, You’re about to make a pronouncement.
One that will determine the course of Jacob’s life.

Which makes me wonder:

What have You decreed for me?

Jacob was no innocent bystander.

Nor am I.

You pronounced Your decree on Jacob in response to his behavior

just as You will pronounce Your decree on me.

Help me, LORD! Help me!

There are some behaviors
I’ve got to change.

Immediately.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“…all who know the truth…”
(2 John 1:1)

None of us knows the whole truth, do we, Jesus?

Open our eyes.

I say that…but to what purpose?

What percentage of the time do I act on the truth
once I know it?

If my answer is anything less than 100%
it’s unacceptable.

Is it possible You’re keeping me in the dark about some of the things I’m dying to know

because You know I won’t act courageously
when You turn on the light?

Seek Godly balance, as you Pray this Lazaroo:

“…has there ever been anything like this…”
(Jeremiah 2:10)

Solomon said there’s nothing new under the sun, Jesus.

I’d say he was half right…half wrong.

True, the amount of matter and energy in the universe

are fairly constant.

But what You enable us to create

by rearranging those same ol’ atoms, quarks and leptons
can feel amazingly new.

I’ve got to have both in my life, don’t I, Father?

Enough of the old for stability

Exciting bursts of new

to keep it fresh.

Pray this Lazaroo in rekindled hope:

“I am writing you a new command; its truth is seen in him and you…”
(1 John 2:8)

There’s no question that the truth of Your commands is seen in You, Jesus…

…but in me?

Wow.

Some commands
on some days

maybe.

But on other commands You’ve issued

I haven’t yet made it out of the gate.

I know.

That’s not good enough.

Help me, Father!
Please help me!

I long to embody all Your truths

so others can safely follow in my footsteps.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“The law will go out from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.”
(Isaiah 2:3)

Thanks for this reminder, Jesus.

You picked a city
made it holy

chose it above all cities of the world
made it the capitol of the greatest nation on earth

Jerusalem, Israel.

New York, Paris, London, Dubai, Tokyo, Sydney, L.A., Bangalore, Chicago…

not one of them can touch it.

Not because of its size
not because of its tall buildings, its lavish amenities

because of You.

Pray this Lazaroo in heartfelt determination:

“…the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, ‘This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.’”
(2 Peter 1:17)

If You spoke from heaven right now, Jesus…

would You say the same thing about me?

I am Your child.
You do love me.

But are You “well pleased” with me?

If so, it’s not because of my sins, which are many
but only because You see the passionate intent of my heart.

Pray this Lazaroo with deep yearning:

“My lover spoke…”
(Song of Songs 2:10)

Is there any voice as precious as that, Jesus?

Very few:

a baby’s first words
a friend’s comfort
someone coming to my defense
the voice of a loved one I thought I had lost
a passionate prayer in my behalf

But there is one voice I long to hear above all others.
I can only imagine the emotion that will grip me.
Even now, my heart pounds in anticipation.

Yours.

Greeting me upon my arrival in heaven:

“Well done.”
