Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“Here am I…”
(Hebrews 2:13)

…and that’s all I need, Jesus:

You.

To know You’re here – right here with me

is all I have to know.

If I have You and nothing else I’ve got it all.

If I have everything but You
I”ve got nothing! Nothing! Nothing!

nothing at all.

If I have You and no one else I’ve got it all

If I have everyone but You
I’ve got no one! No one! No one!

no one at all.

Pray this Lazaroo in the fear of God:

“…you hate all who do wrong”
(Psalms 5:5)

You hate wrongdoers, Jesus –

those who love to do wrong
who keep doing wrong
who don’t regret doing wrong
who look forward to doing more wrong
who refuse to do right.

I don’t know when a person crosses the line between occasionally doing wrong

and becoming a wrongdoer

but my guess is the best way to stay on the right side of that line

is to do as little wrong as possible.

Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“He is very dear to me but even dearer to you…as a man…”
(Philemon 1:16)

The moment I read those words, Jesus…

I realize I don’t think that way –
not as often as I should.

I tend to think of people in terms of what they can or can’t do for me, or for those I care about.

Seldom is a man dear to me…just as a man
or a woman…just as a woman.

Sounds like that needs to change.

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“May those who curse days curse that day…”
(Job 3:8)

Am I a “curser of days,” Jesus?

Are there some holidays I hate?
A person’s birthday I can’t stand?
Several anniversaries I loathe?
Two or three bad-day memories I detest?

I’d better watch it, or I won’t have any good days left on my calendar!

Please help me remember that You either stood by and allowed each of those days to occur…or made them happen.

For a reason.

Dare to break away, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…to those who are corrupted…”
(Titus 2:15)

How does someone get like that, Jesus?

Better question:
How does someone get uncorrupted?

Better yet:
How do I get uncorrupted?

Corrupting influences are all around me.

They appear to be the norm.

Anyone who follows You

looks to be out of step with the rest of the world.

So be it.

I can live – forever – with that.

I choose to march to the beat of a different Drummer.

Pray this Lazaroo in no-holds-barred surrender:

“…she asked for nothing other than what Hegai…suggested.”
(Esther 2:15)

It’s hard to get there, Jesus…

…asking for nothing

other than what somebody who knows recommends.

The problem is…
I think I know.

The even greater problem is –

although this isn’t always the case –

sometimes I’m right and the experienced person is wrong.

So when do I take advice
and when do I ignore it?

How do I discern between wisdom
and egotism?

You know.
Please let me in on it.

Strap on your armor as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…like a good soldier of Christ Jesus.”
(2 Timothy 2:3)

So much for pacifism, huh, Jesus?

You haven’t called me to join a country club.
You’ve called me to serve in Your army.

This life is a battle.

If I want to win, I can’t sit back and watch.
I’ve got to fight.

Confession?

Sometimes I get battle-weary.
I want to call “Time out!”

But that’s not gonna happen, is it?

The moment I let down my guard
I lose.

 Pray this Lazaroo with humility:

“Next to him Meshullam son of Berekiah, the son of Meshezabel, made repairs, and next to him Zadok son of Baana also made repairs.”
(Nehemiah 3:4)

That’s what it takes to accomplish a great task, isn’t it, Jesus?

a lot of people doing their part.

They might not do it as well as I would.

They might do it better. 😉

I do have to work like it all depends on me

without ever forgetting
that it doesn’t.
