Pray this Lazaroo in breakthrough insight:

“No one serving as a soldier gets involved in civilian affairs…”
(2 Timothy 2:4)

I’m Your soldier, Jesus, at Your command.

Am I getting involved in anything that’s none of my business?

If so, please show me!

I don’t want to mess it up.

Nor do I want to be distracted
from the awesome mission You’ve assigned to me.

Besides…

people tend to meddle in the affairs of others
when they don’t know what to do with their own.

Pray this Lazaroo in God-inspired humility:

“…their nobles would not put their shoulders to the work,,,”
(Nehemiah 3:5)

I know some people like that, Jesus –

who believe they’re too “noble” for hard work
who believe they’re above breaking a sweat.

But there’s nothing noble about laziness

or an attitude of superiority.

Give me the humble man or woman who will do whatever it takes

every time.

And help me be a person of true nobility

who willingly puts my shoulder to the work.

Pray this Lazaroo with no-holds-barred surrender:

“I urge, then, first of all, that…prayers…be made for…kings…”
(1 Timothy 2:1-2)

At first blush, this can seem a bit…

irritating, Jesus.

Why would You command even the poorest subjects to pray for their king?

Here they are, powerless, struggling just to make ends meet

while kings can do pretty much whatever they want
and live in jaw-dropping luxury.

Maybe that’s why –

so kings will exercise their power for the good of their people
and become willing to share the wealth.

Pray this Lazaroo with unlimited trust:

“Then they gave money to the masons and carpenters…”
(Ezra 3:7)

They paid them before they did the work, Jesus.

Was that wise?

Well, why not?

Somebody has to take the risk, don’t they?

If the people hiring the workers don’t take it
then the people doing the work have to.

Either way, somebody risks not getting paid
or paying for an unfinished project.

Why am I willing to take those kinds of risks?

Because You’ve got my back.

Walk softly, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“For the secret power of lawlessness is already at work; but the one who now holds it back will continue to do so till he is taken out of the way.”
(2 Thessalonians 2:7)

This is one of those passages, Jesus…

on which students of Your Word disagree.

You could have spelled it out so there’d be no guessing, no controversy

but You chose not to.

Since You’ve remained purposely mysterious about it

perhaps we should hold our opinions
with humility.

Pray this Lazaroo in heartfelt gratitude:

“Solomon took a census of all the aliens who were in Israel…”
(2 Chronicles 2:17)

I’d have been an alien in that census, Jesus

a foreigner
a stranger
a misfit

I’m not descended from Abraham, Isaac or Jacob.

I’m not even sure who all my ancestors are
except that if I go back far enough…

I’m pretty sure I go back to Adam. 😉

But I’m no longer an alien, am I?

Thanks to the cross
I’m family.

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“…how…blameless…we were among you…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:10)

People have called me many names over the years, Jesus

but no one has ever called me, “blameless.”

And even if they did

You wouldn’t.

Except…

You said if I’d confess my sins
You’d cleanse me from every one of them

Because I’ve put my trust in You alone

You’ve removed my sins from me
as far as the east is from the west

Wow.

So in the only Eyes that matter
I’m blameless.

Rejoice in the Family of God, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Here are the men who served, together with their sons…”
(1 Chronicles 6:33)

Is there anything better, Jesus –

than for a dad to get to serve You alongside his children
for a son or daughter to be privileged to serve You with their dad?

Not many gifts are greater than that.

But who are my true moms and dads…sons and daughters?

You answered that a long time ago:

It’s the obedient ones
who do the will of Your Father.

Be in awe, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…God was pleased to have all his fullness dwell in him…”
(Colossians 1:19)

Wow.

That pretty much says it, Jesus:

All there is of God
is in You.

You…are God.

The Creator.
LORD of all.

No wonder when Phillip begged You to show him the Father You told him:

“Anyone who has seen me has seen the Father.”

No wonder, when You identified Yourself to the soldiers who had come to arrest you

they fell to the ground.

So do I.
