Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“‘Very well,’ Bathsheba replied, ‘I will speak to the king for you.’”
(1 Kings 2:18)

Bathsheba was naïve, trusting, politically inexperienced, Jesus

She took the conniving Adonijah at his word

not knowing that if her son Solomon had granted his brother’s request

she and her son would soon be dead.

I want to take people at face value, Father…but I’ve learned the hard way

that isn’t always possible

O Holy Spirit:

Grant me Your priceless gift of discernment!

Let me see if I’m understanding this, Jesus…

in You, I’m now seated with Your Father in the heavenly realms?

Already?
Right now?

Wow.

I don’t know what to do with that.

I’m certainly not experiencing it
at least…not in any way I can discern.

But that doesn’t mean it isn’t real.

Wasn’t much of a reign, was it, Jesus?

You had given the kingdom to David, not him.

As is always the case when a pretender ascends to the throne

his days were numbered.

You’re the one who raises one person to power and sets aside another.

No one can thwart Your sovereign will!

How long will I reign over my little kingdom, LORD?

Not one day longer than You say.

Even my closest friends and family have

different personalities

different life experiences.

But it truly enhances my joy when others share it!

Just a greeting, Jesus…

unless the people who speak it

Then it’s a prayer –

a prayer You love to answer.

When the person who offers up that greeting loves You

that’s a prayer You find it hard to resist.

I forget what a powerful thing it is to bless someone

‘cause there are some people in my life who desperately need me –

and You –

This is interesting, Jesus.

Paul was incredibly smart.
Most people would have expected him to lead with that.

So why didn’t he?

Because he wanted them to follow You
not him.

A lot of leaders claim that as their goal

then can’t seem to help themselves
as they try to build a cadre of people loyal to them.

so we can discover for ourselves how far into the depths it will take us.

That’s not a journey I choose to take, Father.
