Pray this Lazaroo in trusting obedience:

“Surely if I had sent you to them, they would have listened to you.”
(Ezekiel 3:6)

So I’ve got to ask, Jesus –

Why didn’t you send Ezekiel to people who would listen?

I ask this because I have a little experience with trying to communicate

with people who don’t listen

not because they can’t hear
but because they refuse to.

It’s frustrating!

Even so…

…if You want me to share Your truth with people like that

I’ll do it.

Pray this Lazaroo with renewed incentive:

“It gave me great joy to have some brothers come and tell about your faithfulness…”
(3 John 1:3)

The longer I live, Jesus

the more thrilled I am to find someone who’s faithful.

This world is full of people who aren’t:

like those who overpromise and underperform
who start well and don’t finish

who accept a responsibility and don’t show up
who raise my hopes…then dash them

who strengthen my resolve
to never become one of their number.

Brace yourself, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“My young men and maidens have gone into exile.”
(Lamentations 1:18)

For that to happen would be a tragedy, Jesus!

Every person of Godly heart
longs for their children and grandchildren to thrive.

When they don’t, it’s a heartbreak, a disaster, a curse.

Sometimes it appears to be the fault of the parents.
But You’ve promised that’s not the case.

Even if the parents have sinned
You will honor the Christ-honoring lives of their offspring.

Bottom line?
No excuse.

Pray this Lazaroo with grateful heart:

“…peace from God.”
(2 John 1:3)

Where else is it going to come from, Jesus…

if not from You?

This world doesn’t offer peace.

The best it offers is a cessation of hostilities.

But even then, it’s temporary –
more like an opportunity to plan the next attack.

It’s all surface, too

the anger, jealousies, hatred and bitterness
simmering underneath.

In wonderful contrast, Your peace is real, lasting, deep.

World peace is an illusion.
In You alone I find peace.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“My people…have forsaken me…”
(Jeremiah 2:13)

Unthinkable, Jesus!

How foolish.
How dare we do such a thing?

But times beyond counting, we have –

thinking our way is better
fearing Your way won’t be to our liking

or simply straying so gradually that we hardly notice

we’re not living the way You’ve called us to live
we’re not following You anymore.

Don’t let that happen to me!

Or if it has

please, please, please!
help me find my way back.

Pray this Lazaroo with concern:

“…whoever hates his brother is in the darkness…”
(1 John 2:11)

Sometimes I become so upset at what someone has said or done, Jesus

that I come dangerously close to hating them for it.

Not good. So I call it by a different name:

I say I “dislike” them
I “can’t stand” them
I “want nothing to do” with them.

Maybe that’s all it is.

But maybe it isn’t

which may explain some of this darkness I now battle.

Pray this Lazaroo in over-the-top trust:

“…let us walk in the light of the LORD.”
(Isaiah 2:5)

I’d better walk in Your light, Jesus!

Everywhere else is gloom, warped mirrors, darkness.

Of course, some people reject Your Light.

They’re afraid it will expose their sins, shortcomings, misdeeds.
They’re right.
It will.

But that’s a good thing!

Lovers of truth want to know where they’re missing it
so they can correct course
and turn it around.

May I always love Truth, Father!

and walk in Your Light.

Pray this Lazaroo with faith in the God who can:

“…until the day dawns…”
(2 Peter 1:19)

That’s what every person who’s ever experienced a “night of the soul” longs for, Jesus:

Daylight.

In the physical world, I know how long night lasts…and ends.

But in the spiritual world
a night can last for a very, very long time.

In the agony of that experience I cry:

“Where do I find the strength to hang on ‘until the day dawns’?”

In myself, I can’t. But in You

I can.

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“The fig tree forms its early fruit…”
(Song of Songs 2:13)

So I guess that means there must be a late fruit too, Jesus

and an on-time fruit. 😉

But there has to be something special about the early fruit!

That first taste – so good and sweet
especially after a long time without.

Is that why You came up with the idea of a firstfruits offering?

For sure, You deserve it –
because all my “fruit” comes from You.

Pray this Lazaroo in grateful amazement:

“…Christ, a lamb without blemish or defect.”
(1 Peter 1:19)

Knowing that You would one day sacrifice Your Son, Father

You commanded Your people to offer lambs without blemish or defect

as atonement for their sins.

Of course, no animal blood on this earth could take away their sins.

You honored their sacrifices because they obeyed
pointing ahead to that day when Your sinless Son’s death

would pay for the sins of everyone who believes.

Oh, Jesus!

Thank You!
