Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“…they were to camp on the north side of the tabernacle.”
(Numbers 3:35)

What an honor, Jesus!

…to camp anywhere near Your tabernacle.

But to have a place near Your Presence designated as theirs, night after night after night?

There are no words.

Of course, those days are long gone.

You, the promised Messiah
came, died, rose.

When You left, You sent the Holy Spirit to indwell all who believe

Including me
to become Your temple
forever and ever.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“In a loud voice she exclaimed: ‘Blessed are you among women, and blessed is the child you will bear!’”
(Luke 1:42)

Elizabeth wasn’t exactly ashamed of her unwed pregnant relative, was she, Jesus?

Almost everyone else assumed the worst of your mother.

But not Elizabeth.

She had experienced the power of God.

Filled with the Holy Spirit, she prophesied blessing over You and Your mom.

May I always look first to You, LORD!
rather than judging by mere appearances.

Pray this Lazaroo with bottomless trust:

“This is the sin offering for the community.”
(Leviticus 4:21)

Some people call this offering of a bull barbaric, Jesus.

But I’m thinking instead:
What an incredible gift from heaven!

To think that one act could make atonement for an entire sinning community

is nothing short of amazing.

We don’t have such an option today, do we?

When the whole community sins
each member of the community has to repent before You.

And when I sin

so do I.

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“Jesus sent him away at once…”
(Mark 1:43)

Wow, Jesus…

I wonder how that made him feel.

He no sooner shows up and begs You to cure his leprosy

than You heal him and send him away.

But hey – if the one who can heal me orders me to take off

I’d best get going!

If You love me enough to do for me what nobody else can

the least I can do is love you enough to obey.

Pray this Lazaroo with sold-out surrender:

“The God of your fathers has sent me to you…”
(Exodus 3:13)

Could there be anything stronger, Jesus?

Well, yes –
if the God of my fathers came in Person.

But apart from that, wow. What an attention-getter!

depending on who it was who spoke those words, of course.

This time it was Moses – a man imminently to be trusted.

Of course, the Israelites didn’t know that.

If You ever send me a Moses

Give me the discernment to listen.

Pray this Lazaroo with confidence:

“Then what was said through the prophet Jeremiah was fulfilled…”
(Matthew 2:17)

Every time, Jesus.
Every time.

When You say it’s going to happen
it does.

When You say it will never happen
it doesn’t.

No matter how long I have to wait –

minutes, days, weeks, months, years
decades, centuries millennia –

it’s a done deal.

That’s so far beyond the ability of any human to manage

that it boggles the mind.

It leaves me with no rationale choice

but worship.

Pray this Lazaroo with Spirit-led caution:

“When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was…pleasing to the eye…”
(Genesis 3:6)

You’ve taught me this the hard way, Jesus:

Not everything pleasing to the eye
is pleasing to You.

Just because it looks good
doesn’t mean it is good.

Some of the things that catch my fancy
can catch me in their deadly trap.

Thank You for the gift of sight!

But instead of trusting my eyes

I’d do better
to trust Your Word.

Pray this Lazaroo with excuseless humility:

“…and turned many from sin.”
(Malachi 2:6)

I would love for You to be able to say that about me, Jesus!

Sin robs my friends, family
church members, coworkers

of so much.

But what’s the best way to turn them away from sin’s ugly clutches?

Should I warn them of its consequences?
show them examples of those who’ve caved in?

Or is the most effective help I could ever give them

to live a pure, overcoming, sin-conquering life
myself?

Pray this Lazaroo in focused anticipation:

“For this is what the LORD Almighty says…”
(Zechariah 2:8)

If I thought – really believed it –

that You were about to speak to me, Jesus

I’d be on the edge of my seat
shutting down, turning off every distraction
hyper-focused, eager to hear the first word

thinking I ought to take notes
terrified that if I did, I might miss some of it.

The thing is, You are about to speak to me

every time I open my Bible.
