Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“…now I would be lying down in peace…”
(Job 3:13)

Job is talking about his death, Jesus

imagining himself lying buried
free of pain and heartache.

But that wasn’t what Job really believed!

He knew that death was the passing from this world
to his eternity in the next.

He knew he would one day stand before You
and give an account of his one and only life.

Dear God!

May I never – ever! – forget that one overriding truth.

Pray this Lazaroo with white-hot fervor:

“They are…disobedient…”
(Titus 1:16)

May that never be said about me, Jesus…

…in the future.

That’s my one hope – my future obedience in You.

Because I’ve had a disobedient past.

Most people hold others’ pasts against them.

Some of us even hold it against ourselves.

But You’re the God of the Fresh Start!

You’re the only one who can erase
the failures of my permanent record.

You’re the only one who can take my ugly

and make it beautiful.

Pray this Lazaroo by faith, with anticipation:

“… the king gave a great banquet, Esther’s banquet, for all his nobles and officials.”
(Esther 2:18)

Many of us have had birthday, graduation or retirement parties, Jesus.

But not many of us have had a king name a banquet after us.

What did Esther do to deserve such an honor?

Nothing.

Because of Your hand on her life, it wasn’t what she did.

It was what she was going to do.

What’s in my future for Your glory, LORD?

Do it!

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“…the Lord will give you insight…”
(2 Timothy 2:7)

Yes You will, Jesus –

insight like no other.

The insight I’m able to glean from others is based on

their experience
educated guesses
outright speculation.

But the insight You provide comes from the fact

that You know everything about everything

because You created it
see every aspect of it
totally understand it.

Next time I need to learn something

(that would be every day!)

I think I’ll go to You.

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“Uzziel son of Harhaiah, one of the goldsmiths, repaired the next section…”
(Nehemiah 3:8)

When people have this kind of spirit

all things are possible, Jesus!

Well…all things are always possible with You.

But You love it when someone does whatever is necessary
even when it’s outside their area of expertise.

So do I.

Next time You need something done
but there’s nobody skilled at doing it

I’ll give You my best
and trust You to train me.

Be encouraged, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“God…wants all men to be saved…”
(1 Timothy 2:3)

I love this, Jesus!

You long for everyone You’ve created
to experience the joy You’ve prepared
for those who believe in You.

But there’s the rub.

Not everyone believes.
Some hear You out, then reject You.

Unthinkable! Unimaginable!
Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!

But You give them that right.

Of course, when they exercise it
they lose heaven and gain hell.

But they lose something even greater than heaven.

They lose You.

Pray this Lazaroo with excuseless humility:

“…all Levites – joined together in supervising…”
(Ezra 3:9)

I’m sure some Levites were awesome supervisors, Jesus

some less so
some not so much

and some totally stunk it up.

At least, based on my experience, that’s my guess.

Anytime everybody in one family does the same thing
some are better than others

and there’s always at least one clunker in the bunch.

For all I know

I’m that clunker in my bunch.

If so…
thanks for including me.

Pray this Lazaroo in holy fear:

“The coming of the lawless one will be in accordance with…every sort of evil…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:9-10)

That’s not something I want any part of, Jesus!

The evil I know about is bad enough.

But I’m sure there are evils Satan can come up with

that would make me blanch.

Not interested. Not curious.

Not even a little bit.

The contact I’ve had with evil thus far in my life

has burned that desire out of me.

Forever.

Pray this Lazaroo with keen anticipation:

“Then Solomon began to build the temple of the LORD…”
(2 Chronicles 3:1)

I can only imagine the joy of that moment, Jesus!

Solomon’s father David had longed for this privilege
but You would not allow him to build your temple.

Solomon knew You had saved this honor for him.

Based on the prayer he prayed at its completion
he was thrilled…and deeply humbled.

What have you saved for me to do, Father?

Please.
Don’t let me miss it.

Pray this Lazaroo with every fiber of your being:

“…urging you to live lives worthy of God…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:12)

Now, how am I going to do that, Jesus?

No matter how hard I try
no matter how much good I do

the life I live will never be worthy of You.

But this is You, Holy Spirit, telling me through Paul

no, urging me through Paul!

So I have to conclude that what You’re talking about is

wholehearted
no-holds-barred
giving it all I’ve got

living for You.
