Pray this Lazaroo in solemn anticipation:

“…all that was done in the Most Holy Place…”
(1 Chronicles 1:49)

The Most Holy Place, Jesus

the inner sanctuary of the temple in Jerusalem

Your dwelling place on earth

containing the Ark of the Covenant

which contained the Ten Commandments
that You carved out with your own finger

entered once a year by the high priest

until its veil was torn from top to bottom at your crucifixion

now empty, covered over

buried under another’s holy place

waiting.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior.”
(Colossians 1:21)

If that’s what my evil behavior causes

I want no part of it, Jesus.

I can’t afford to be alienated from You!

I need You all day, every day
up close and personal.

I want no down-time from You, no vacation from Your Presence.

I don’t want us to be enemies!

I want us always, always

to be best friends.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble adulation:

“Mesha king of Moab…had to supply the king of Israel with a hundred thousand lambs…”
(2 Kings 3:4)

That’s a daunting task, Jesus –

especially for someone being forced to do it
or else.

Every task is made harder when I’m being coerced, pressured, threatened

when I’m being forced to try to accomplish it against my will.

But what if I choose to change my attitude?

What if I realize in the big picture

everything I do
is for You.

Pray this Lazaroo with undiluted sincerity:

“…striving together as one for the faith of the gospel without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you.”
(Philippians 1:27-28)

Normally, not being frightened in any way by those who oppose me would be an impossibility, Jesus.

But these circumstances change that.

Sharing salvation for all who trust in You!

How can You not protect me while I’m doing that?

Doing it in harmony with all who follow You.

With You and them
I’m not alone.

Pray this Lazaroo in sensitive awareness:

“‘I have one small request to make of you,’ she said.”
(1 Kings 2:20)

Bathsheba is right, Jesus.

The request she is about to make of her son Solomon is small.
With a word, he can easily grant it.

There’s only one problem:

If he does what his mother is asking
the consequences will be catastrophic.

What a reminder!

Just because a thing is easy to do

doesn’t make it right
doesn’t mean You want me to do it.

Fully open your heart, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith –”
(Ephesians 2:8)

It’s being sure of what I hope for, isn’t it, Jesus?

It’s being certain of what I don’t yet see

taking Your Word over what my senses report
above what others say
in spite of the circumstances.

You love that!

It means I trust You no matter what.

I’m not hedging my bets, Father.

Everything I’ve got – past, present and future –
is all on You.

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“One group sat down on one side of the pool and one group on the other side.”
(2 Samuel 2:13)

This didn’t end well, Jesus.

It seldom does, when two opposing sides square off.

One of them was in the right, the other in the wrong

but people on both sides suffered and died.

The next time I get ready to square off against someone

please confirm for me beyond the shadow of a doubt
that I’m on Your side.

Pray this Lazaroo with thanksgiving:

“They agreed that we should go to the Gentiles, and they to the Jews.”
(Galatians 2:9)

How many times have I looked at the assignment You’ve given someone, Jesus

and thought, “I wish You had sent me there!”?

But how often have I looked at where You’ve sent someone else

and thought, “I’m so very glad that’s not me!”?

May I never second-guess Your calling, LORD!

You alone

know what You’ve put me on this earth to do.

Pray this Lazaroo in eager expectation:

“The LORD…raises the poor from the dust…”
(1 Samuel 2:7-8)

That’s one of the things about You I like best, Jesus –

You don’t leave any of us where we are.

Those who are humbled You lift.
Those who are haughty You humble.

Of this I can be sure:

Whatever I do now
Whoever I am now

is going to change.

The more fully I surrender to You

the more stunning the end result.

One touch from You

is transformative.

Pray this Lazaroo from the depths of your soul:

“If anyone has caused grief…”
(2 Corinthians 2:5)

People don’t usually say something like this, Jesus

unless grief has been caused.

There’s seldom any “if” to it.

But for some, the word, “since” can be a little too strong.

Hence, the word, “if.”

Paul is trying to bring healing in the place of hurt

so with Your help, He’s choosing those words.

O God!

Give me Your words of healing
to share with those around me
who are hurting.
