Pray this Lazaroo with total transparency:

“…refresh my heart…”
(Philemon 1:20)

Life can get wearisome, Father.

Please don’t misunderstand!
I don’t take it for granted.

I have no question that millions right now

are begging You to give them a few more days of it.

But I know You know

that what I say is true.

You walked this earth for 33 years, Jesus.

You know how much it means
when someone refreshes Your weary heart

as I need to do for someone
right now.

Pray this Lazaroo all the way to the marrow of your bones:

“The small and the great are there…”
(Job 3:19)

The grave is the ultimate leveler, Jesus

claiming presidents, popes and paupers
cheaters, preachers, cowards and heroes
mothers, nuns and prostitutes
billionaires and bums

and oh, yeah – me

unless You come for Your Church first.

I don’t want to die.

But millions who’ve gone before me
felt the same.

I don’t get to choose.

You’ve already chosen it for me.

My only comfort is this:

I know You’ve chosen well.

Pray this Lazaroo with laser-focused intensity:

“Teach the older men to be…worthy of respect…”
(Titus 2:2.)

That’s what I want in an older man, Jesus

…and in an older woman.

Someone who’s living out Your life in them not only now and then

…but day after day after day.

I’m not particularly needing them to be perfect, though.

Give me somebody who’s made her share of mistakes

a man who’s blown it badly
then come back humble
stronger than ever

each day…more like You.

Be grateful, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…just as Mordecai had told her to do…”
(Esther 2:20)

Blindly following the orders of another human being

can end up in tragedy, Jesus.

But not this time.

Esther was young, inexperienced.
Mordecai was not only older, but wise.

Moreover, Mordecai had only Esther’s best interests at heart.

In addition, he had proven himself to Esther –
taking her in and treating her like a daughter
when her parents died.

Most importantly –

Mordecai knew and wholeheartedly followed You.

Pray this Lazaroo with eager passion:

“This is my gospel…”
(2 Timothy 2:8)

I’m no Apostle Paul, Jesus, but this is my gospel, too!

You created everything that is –
heavens, earth, animals, people.

With God as Your Father, You were born to the virgin Mary –
the God-Man who worked miracles, taught like no other.

On the cross You paid with your life for the sins of all believers
then rose to life on the third day.

This is my gospel!

And I’m sticking to it.

Pray this Lazaroo with determination:

“Malkijah…and Hasshub…repaired another section…”
(Nehemiah 3:11)

Some days that’s how it goes, Jesus.

In fact, most days that’s how it goes.

Another section, another task like yesterday’s, another day like the one before.

Not starting anything, not completing anything
slogging through the interminable middle.

At such times it’s hard to grab perspective.

It’s easy to lose the whole point

until I remember that this is what You call, “faithfulness”

and that You richly, lavishly, with absolute certainty

reward it.

Pray this Lazaroo – your heart bursting with gratitude:

“…Christ Jesus, who gave himself as a ransom…”
(1 Timothy 2:5-6)

Oh, what a revelation, Jesus!

I was a prisoner to death, hell, sin, my own flesh
my fallen nature held captive by Satan.

The only payment that could buy my release was Your life.
And You paid it! You paid it! You paid it!

Hallelujah! Hallelujah! Hallelujah!

Never let me forget what my freedom cost You.

How dare I return to the gloom and stench
of my old cell?

Allow your soul to sound His praise in this Lazaroo:

“the Levites…with cymbals…”
(Ezra 3:10)

These aren’t the crash cymbals used in a modern rock band, are they, Jesus?

The Levites struck two cymbals together
each about 3-4” wide.

One cymbal made the “A” sound
the other the sound of “C”.

Played together, they created a beautiful, ringing, melodic harmony

which, in the Davidic Cypher, equates to Your Name, YAH.

When they sounded their cymbals, they were playing Your Name –

Hallelu-YAH!

O God!

May my life “sound” Your Name!

Take a deep breath, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“…all will be condemned who have not believed the truth…”
(2 Thessalonians 2:12)

Pretty plain, Jesus.

Thanks for laying it out there

Those who refuse to believe the truth are not merely disciplined, punished.

You don’t simply give them a stern talking-to
put them in time out.

They’re condemned.

Last time I checked
that means hell.

Not just for a visit.
Forever.

Makes me develop a whole new appreciation

for the truth…the whole truth…
and nothing but the truth.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“The foundation Solomon laid for building the temple of God was sixty cubits long and twenty cubits wide…”
(2 Chronicles 3:3)

There’s never been another temple like it, Jesus –

but that makes me think:

What kind of foundation am I building?

Solomon did a great job laying the foundation for Your physical temple

but his spiritual foundation didn’t hold.

It all started when he disobeyed you in seemingly small ways

first this…then that.

But there’s nothing small about disobedience.
