Pray this Lazaroo in deep appreciation:

“…sufficient for him.”
(2 Corinthians 2:6)

Everything You do for me is sufficient, Jesus!

…not to mention unique.

What’s sufficient for me may not be for someone else.

Thank You for not giving me the one-size-fits-all treatment!

The way You reward me is different from what You do for everyone else.

So is the way You correct me.

But please help me remember that for others, it may be too much…too little…

…or need to be something else entirely.

Pray this Lazaroo with watchful eye:

“Watch the field where the men are harvesting…”
(Ruth 2:9)

Ruth was a gleaner, Jesus.

So am I.

She had to wait till the harvesters had gone over the field before she could follow after them and gather what was missed.

So do I.

Countless others have worked in Your harvest field before I came along.

But there are still people who haven’t heard the good news.

I’m watching the field, Father
so I can tell them about You.

Pray this Lazaroo in deep thought:

“We do, however, speak a message of wisdom among the mature…”
(1 Corinthians 2:6)

Interesting, Jesus.

All people need wisdom.
The immature as well as the mature.

But there’s a lot of wisdom that the immature can’t handle.

Wisdom isn’t bound by illusion.
The immature, however, find it hard to give theirs up.

Wisdom isn’t guided by political correctness.
The immature are unduly influenced by the crowd.

Am I ready to embrace Your wisdom, Father?

Please.
Grow me up.

Pray this Lazaroo with unrestrained allegiance:

“They were in great distress.”
(Judges 2:15)

Been there, Jesus.

But not, I hope, for the same reason they were.

You were fighting against them!

And of course, You were winning.
Every time.

Your people turned away from You to false gods and idols

provoking You to anger.

Not me, LORD! Never!

May all my great distress be caused by Satan
because I remain true to You.

I know You’ll fight my battles and utterly defeat him.

Every time.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble trust:

“They are full of…malice.”
(Romans 1:29)

Protect me from enemies like this, Jesus!

Some people unintentionally cause harm.
Not these people.

They do it on purpose.
They plan it.

Those who are full of malice seethe with hatred, evil intent
fully intending to do harm to those they despise.

They delight in the suffering of others
proud of the fact that they’re the ones who caused it.

If one of them aims his arrows at me

break his bow.

Pray this Lazaroo with over-the-top trust:

“So she sent them away and they departed.”
(Joshua 2:21)

It’s not enough to send someone away, is it, Jesus?

They have to depart.

Sometimes I attempt to send a person away…and they don’t leave.

Awkward.
Forces my hand.

I either insist…wait them out…
or withdraw my request.

I don’t want to be that person, Father!

When You send me
I want to be the person You can count on to go.

No matter how much I love it there.

Pray this Lazaroo in steadfast faith:

“I will show wonders in the heaven above…”
(Acts 2:19)

When I consider this prophecy

I suspect I may have been looking for the wrong thing, Jesus –
some sort of supernatural fireworks in the sky.

Something You can – and may! – certainly do.

But what if You meant the amazing images we’ve been receiving from Hubble – and those far more powerful telescopes soon to become operational?

Never in history have we witnessed
such jaw-dropping evidence
of Your Majesty!

Pray this Lazaroo with unbridled passion:

“…because he followed the LORD wholeheartedly.”
(Deuteronomy 1:36)

Is there any other way to follow You, Jesus?

Sadly, there is:

halfheartedly
indifferently
distractedly
thoughtlessly
lukewarmly
carelessly.

But none of those is worthy of You!

You deserve my wholehearted devotion.

You deserve all of me, not part of me.

You deserve my total focus
my maximum effort
my absolute best.

On the cross, You gave Your all for me.

How dare I give any less than my everything for You!

Pray this Lazaroo with fiery determination:

“…and tell him…”
(John 1:41)

That’s what I’ve got to do, Jesus –

tell somebody about You.

The news is too good to keep to myself!

the consequence too great for those who don’t understand

or hear.

How dare I worship with Your saints, rejoicing in Your salvation

without thought for those who’ve never heard Your Name?

O God!

Help me tell all those around me about Your salvation
and proclaim to the four corners of the earth:

Jesus saves!
