Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“…the priest shall take some of the blood of the sin offering…”
(Leviticus 4:25)

3,500 years ago

Your priests were working with animal blood, Jesus.

No more.

You’ve promoted every person who places their trust in You:

Now we’re all a kingdom of priests!

The blood You now honor, Father

is not that of goats, sheep, bulls and rams.

The blood that takes away the sins of all who believe –

including mine –

is that of Your own dear Son.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“As a result…”
(Mark 1:45)

That’s what every one of my actions has, doesn’t it, Jesus?

A result.

It’s what every word I speak has, too:

a result.

Nor is my mind exempt! Every thought I think has

a result.

Since that’s the case, I dare not

do what I want to do
say what I feel like saying
let my thoughts run

without first thinking through their consequences and what will happen

as a result.

Pray this Lazaroo with heartfelt pleading:

“Go, assemble the elders of Israel…”
(Exodus 3:16)

Israel’s elders spoke to and for Your people, Jesus.

They were seasoned, experienced, wise, trustworthy.

But for all that, the message You told Moses to deliver to them

would have been almost impossible to accept
unless you moved on the hearts of the elders to believe it –

which You did.

Do that for me, Holy Spirit!

When You send me to someone with an amazing message, please:

Go before me.

Take notes, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“So he got up…”
(Matthew 2:21)

Forgive me, Jesus, but isn’t that what Your stepdad did

when an angel told him to take Your mom home to be his wife
even though she was pregnant?

and what he did when an angel told him
to take You and Your mom to Egypt?

Now, he’s obeying the angel again –

taking You and Your mom back home to Israel.

Each time He got up and did it.

Sounds like a plan.

Pray this Lazaroo with sober assessment:

“Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking…”
(Genesis 3:8)

What a thrill that must have been, Jesus –

to be able to hear You approaching…
to know they were about to see You!

Except, it wasn’t a thrill for them on that day.

They had sinned.

You were the last person – I mean God! –

they wanted to see.

I’m the same way.

So which is it for me today?

Pray this Lazaroo in sobriety of mind:

“So I have caused you to be despised and humiliated before all the people…”
(Malachi 2:9)

To be despised – if it’s only by one or two people –

is painful, Jesus.

To be humiliated with somebody watching

is awful.

But to be despised and humiliated before everybody?

Family, friends, total strangers?
Pretty close to unbearable.

What would cause You to do something like that to a person?

Maybe because they’ve tried to make everyone they know
despise and humiliate You.

Pray this Lazaroo in solemn determination:

“Then you will know that the LORD Almighty has sent me.”
(Zechariah 2:9)

The prophets of old put their lives on the line, Jesus.

When You told them what to say

they knew they could be stoned as false prophets
if what they predicted didn’t come true.

But since Your Word is absolutely reliable

that’s not why their lives were at risk.

Sometimes they were killed for delivering your message.

May I faithfully share Your Word
no matter what the cost.

Pray this Lazaroo with recognition:

“I struck all the work of your hands with…hail…”
(Haggai 2:17)

Discipline like that ought to be obvious, Jesus

unless the person You’re correcting
doesn’t believe in You –

or doesn’t believe You’re willing to use extreme measures
to turn around someone You truly care about.

They might chalk up the hailstorm to “natural causes”

ignoring the fact that every so-called “natural cause” out there
comes from Your hand.

I know better, LORD!

Now I need to act like it.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“…you shameful nation…”
(Zephaniah 2:1)

You not only keep track of nations, Jesus

but of every single person in them.

In reality, it’s not the nation that’s shameful

but the sum of the people within it.

If the majority of them repeatedly make bad choices

the nation itself becomes corrupt.

But it doesn’t have to stay that way!

If my nation is one of those in growing jeopardy
we can change…

and the change can ignite through me.
