Pray this Lazaroo in healing trust:

“You suffered from your own countrymen…”
(1 Thessalonians 2:14)

That’s the worst, Jesus!

Not attack from a stranger
betrayal from someone I thought was a friend.

I guess I’m kind of slow on the draw.

I never see it coming.

Maybe that’s because of how good You Are to me!

I know as I walk in deep, daily, moment-by-moment
1on1 relationship with You

You’ve got my back.

That frees me to relax!

trusting not in them
but in You.

Pray this Lazaroo in deepest gratitude:

“…a city of refuge…”
(1 Chronicles 6:57)

Your compassion is beyond measure, Jesus!

You designated these cities in Israel
where hunted men and women could flee.

If they had unintentionally killed someone
their avengers were not allowed to touch them.

There they could receive a fair trial – and if found innocent –
could stay safe until the death of the high priest.

You’re my High Priest and only Refuge, Jesus!

where I will stay forever
because You will never die.

Pray this Lazaroo with growing passion:

“This is the gospel that you heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven.”
(Colossians 1:23)

This is the gospel – the good news – that I’ve heard and believed, Jesus.

It’s the gospel that many of my friends and family have heard.

It’s changed our lives.

But although You have proclaimed it to every creature under heaven

not every creature has been as blessed as I’ve been

to hear it.

It’s my responsibility to tackle that problem.

Hold nothing back, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“After a roundabout march of seven days…”
(2 Kings 3:9)

I’ve been on a few of those roundabout journeys, Jesus!

At least, that’s what they felt like at the time:

a total waste.

But is that what they were?

No. Even when I didn’t know what I was doing

You did.

You’ve made me a promise:

That if I will seek You with my whole heart
and faithfully follow You all the way

You will guide my steps.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble adulation:

“…the…struggle…you saw I had, and now hear that I still have.”
(Philippians 1:30)

Okay, Jesus…

that’s real!

How many times have I begged You to intervene –

cried and pleaded for a miracle –

that still hasn’t come?

I know.

It’s all about Your timing.

I want deliverance now.

I live in the now.

But Your perspective is a little different:

higher, wider, deeper, bigger

better.

You see the end from the beginning

because You Are

the Beginning and the End.

Pray this Lazaroo with undiluted sincerity:

“And now, as surely as the LORD lives –”
(I Kings 2:24)

Those are strong words, Jesus.

Solomon was determined to put his brother Adonijah to death
that very day –

which he did.

But unless You’re the one who puts those words in my mouth

I don’t plan to ever speak them.

You live!

There is nothing more certain or more sacred
than that overriding, glorious, awe-inspiring truth.

My intentions – no matter how fervent –

will always pale in comparison.

Pray this Lazaroo with explosive feeling:

“You who are Gentiles by birth…”
(Ephesians 2:11)

It doesn’t matter what I am by birth, Jesus.

Maybe it does to some people.

But not to You.

What counts is the fact that I believe You died for my sins and rose from the dead.

What matters is that I give myself wholly to You

trusting You alone for any hope I have on this earth
and for eternity in heaven.

Rebirth!

Walking daily in You.

That’s what matters.

Ready yourself for battle, as you pray this Lazaroo:

“Abner looked behind him and asked, ‘Is that you, Asahel?’ ‘It is,’ he answered.”
(2 Samuel 2:20)

This was a death-chase, Jesus.

A war was raging.
Asahel was intent on killing Abner.

I, too, am in a war – a holy war – the war of the ages.

The forces of good against the forces of evil.
Angels and believers against demons and God-haters.
My Christian self against my sinful human nature.

O God! Rise up within me in power!

Help me win.

Pray this Lazaroo with locked-in faith:

“The other Jews joined him in his hypocrisy…”
(Galatians 2:13)

What weak, wishy-washy follower of Yours are you referring to, Jesus?

Oh, wait a minute. I stand corrected.

This was none other than Your chosen Apostle Peter!

the man who was crucified upside-down for his faith.

He was just having a bad day. So were the other Jews.

So have I.

You didn’t give up on Peter when he slipped into hypocrisy…

and you will never give up on me.

Pray this Lazaroo in humble confidence:

“…the LORD will judge the ends of the earth.”
(1 Samuel 2:10)

So that means nobody escapes, Jesus.

One day everyone will stand before You to give account

including me.

But the good news is that because I continue to put my faith and trust in You alone

heaven is my home
firm and secure.

When I’m judged by You

it will be to evaluate the quality of my service to You throughout my life

and be rewarded accordingly.
