Pray this Lazaroo in building anticipation:

“…about whom the prophets also wrote…”
(John 1:45)

The prophets wrote about You, Jesus

because Your Heavenly Father told them what to write.

But most of them had little real knowledge of who You’d really be.

You gave each of them a small piece of the puzzle to share
without ever revealing the whole picture.

It’s up to those of us who’ve come later to fit all the pieces together

until our jaws drop in stunned love and wonder.

Pray this Lazaroo in deep yearning:

“…including every male…”
(Numbers 3:39)

Males like to be included, Jesus

when it’s time to eat
when it’s time to work on something energizing
when it’s time to do something they call fun.

Males don’t particularly like to be included

when it’s something they’re not good at
when the work is pointless
when people are looking for someone to blame.

But most of all, males – and females, for that matter –

long to be included in Your Book of Life.

Pray this Lazaroo with unshakable belief:

“He has brought down rulers from their thrones…”
(Luke 1:52)

Yes, You have, Jesus –

far more times than any of us can imagine.

In fact, every ruler whose reign has ever ended

has been brought down by You.

You raise ‘em up
You set ‘em down.

But the reverse is also true:

No one can take down someone You’ve set up:
not by vote, assassination, impeachment or coup.

No ruler is perfect.

But each is perfect
for Your plan.

Pray this Lazaroo in sold-out surrender:

“If a member of the community…does what is forbidden…”
(Leviticus 4:27)

Sadly, Jesus…

who hasn’t?

I have.

Everyone I know has.

You say the same:

There’s no one righteous, not even one.

But things can’t stay that way, can they?

Sin has to be atoned for.

Either the sinner pays
or someone with sufficient means

has to pay it for them.

Which is exactly what You did on the cross
for everyone who puts their trust in You.

Pray this Lazaroo in awareness of His Presence:

“So many gathered that there was no room left, not even outside the door…”
(Mark 2:2)

What a moment, Jesus!

You were in the house!
It was standing room only – inside and out.

That’s what ought to be in every one of Your churches.

If only people believed that You Are Present –

in full glory and power –

there wouldn’t be enough room to hold the people.

Thank God, You are there!

in every church that faithfully preaches Your Word.

Pray this Lazaroo in utter gratitude:

“…I have…seen what has been done to you…”
(Exodus 3:16)

That’s all I need to know, Jesus.

You’ve seen what they’ve done to me.

The thing about You is:

If You see it, You’ll take care of it –
in the perfect way and time.

Did I say, “If” You see it?

My bad.
You see everything.
You take care of all of it.

Your method is always perfect.
Your timing is absolutely exquisite.

Still…it’s good to be reminded. 😉

Pray this Lazaroo with pure devotion:

“He will be called a Nazarene.”
(Matthew 2:23)

To us all these years later, that sounds like a compliment, Jesus.

Thousands of churches worldwide proudly bear that name.

But that wasn’t the case 2,000 years ago.

When Philip told Nathanael that’s what you were called
Nathanael’s reaction says it all:

“Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?”

But Philip’s response was perfect:

“Come and see.”

When I run into a doubter

that’s still the perfect response.
You never disappoint.

Pray this Lazaroo with pedal-to-the-metal commitment:

“Have you eaten from the tree that I commanded you not to eat from?”
(Genesis 3:11)

Yes, I have, Jesus.

God help me!
Yes, I have.

As Adam did when You asked him this question

I’m tempted to explain why I did it.

But I’m not going to bother.

You’d recognize it for what it is:
An embarrassingly weak excuse.

I know what happened to Adam and Eve.

Please help me change!
Don’t kick me out of the garden.

Pray this Lazaroo in corrected awareness:

“…breaking faith with one another…”
(Malachi 2:10)

This is a big deal to You, isn’t it, Jesus?

To break faith with one another
is to break faith with You.

At first, it doesn’t look that way.

I’m tempted to think the way I treat others
is solely between them and me.

But then it I realize it isn’t:

Those “others” I’m breaking faith with
are Your kids.

Last time I checked

no dad likes it
when somebody mistreats His kid.
